{"id":33752,"date":"2025-06-12T13:02:51","date_gmt":"2025-06-12T03:32:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/?p=33752"},"modified":"2025-06-13T11:22:43","modified_gmt":"2025-06-13T01:52:43","slug":"vale-angus-thomson","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/news\/2025\/06\/12\/vale-angus-thomson","title":{"rendered":"Vale Angus Thomson"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tennis SA is deeply saddened by the passing of Angus Thomson, a Life Member and one of South Australia\u2019s most enduring contributors to the sport.<\/p>\n<p>Born in 1931, Angus dedicated more than 70 years to tennis in South Australia, leaving an indelible mark across coaching, officiating, and tournament administration.<\/p>\n<p>Angus began his journey as one of South Australia\u2019s leading coaches, sharing his knowledge and passion with generations of players. He went on to serve as a Tournament Director for countless events, long before the formal establishment of Tennis SA, and was widely regarded as a master of draws and scheduling. His natural talent for using Tournament Planner earned him a reputation as a guru in the field.<\/p>\n<p>Transitioning into officiating later in his career, Angus served as a Court Supervisor, Referee, and Officiating Educator for 16 years, continuing to officiate until his retirement in 2020. Remarkably, Angus worked his final event at the age of 88, a testament to his incredible energy, commitment, and love for the game.<\/p>\n<p>A respected colleague and mentor, Angus influenced countless lives through his dedication, professionalism, and warmth.<\/p>\n<p>Tennis SA extends its heartfelt condolences to Angus\u2019 family, friends, and the many people in the tennis community whose lives he touched.
