It’s been an epic day in semifinals action at the City of Playford Tennis International, and\u00a0we’re gearing up for some Centre Court showdowns for the Men’s and Women’s Singles Finals tomorrow.<\/p>\n
We kicked off the morning with a Blind and Low Vision Exhibition<\/strong> match on Centre Court followed by the men’s doubles final.<\/p>\n The men’s doubles final saw Australian duo and No.2 seeds Blake Ellis<\/strong>\u00a0(QLD) and Thomas Fancutt<\/strong>\u00a0(QLD) fly to a 6-1 start in the first set against fellow Aussies Jake Delaney<\/strong>\u00a0(NSW) and Jesse Delaney <\/strong>(NSW). <\/strong>As the match progressed the No.2 seeds claimed the win in a super tiebreaker 5-7 [10-5] to take home the men’s doubles title.<\/p>\n The women’s doubles showcased an all-Aussie showdown with Lizette Cabrera<\/strong>\u00a0(QLD) and Taylah Preston <\/strong>(WA) taking<\/strong>\u00a0on\u00a0Alexandra Bozovic <\/strong>(NSW) and Petra Hule <\/strong>(SA)\u00a0in the final. Ultimately, Alexandra\u00a0Bozovic<\/strong> and Petra Hule\u00a0<\/strong>claimed the doubles title winning in straight sets 6-4 6-3.<\/p>\n In the singles, Yuta Shimizu<\/strong> (JPN) secured his spot in the men’s singles final after defeating No.8 seed Marc<\/strong> Polmans <\/strong>(AUS) in straight sets 6-0 6-3. In a 2-hour thriller No.1 seed Rinky Hijikata<\/strong> (NSW) held on to defeat Masamichi Imamura<\/strong> (JPN) 5-7 6-4 6-4 to book his place in the men’s finals tomorrow.<\/p>\n The women’s semifinals saw both top seeded players Taylah Preston <\/strong>(WA) and Talia Gibson<\/strong>\u00a0(WA) knocked out of the finals race. No.2 seed Taylah Preston<\/strong> was defeated by No.5 seed Himeno Sakatsume <\/strong>(JPN) 6-1 7-6[4] and will meet Australia’s No.3 seed Maddison Inglis <\/strong>(WA) in the final tomorrow.
