Prospect<\/strong> (City\/Hills) and Mount Gambier<\/strong> (Rural) have been announced as South Australia\u2019s Most Outstanding Tennis Clubs <\/strong>in 2024.\u00a0While dedicated volunteers Damian McGee<\/strong> (Gawler and Districts Tennis Association) and Rebecca Burford <\/strong>(Tumby Bay Tennis Club) were honoured with Volunteer Achievement Awards<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The awards among others were presented at the Tennis SA Awards Night<\/strong> held at the Adelaide Convention Centre on Saturday 27 April. \u201cThe Tennis SA Awards Night was once again a spectacular celebration of the achievements of our players, coaches, clubs, communities, volunteers and officials\u201d Tennis SA CEO Debbie Sterrey<\/strong> said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was great to see over 360 people attend to celebrate all those who make tennis great in our state. Our congratulations to all of the award winners and finalists, we are very proud of you all.\u201d<\/p>\n

Prospect Tennis Club<\/strong> won the award for the first time after an amazing year of growth participation numbers. A new court hire offering and strong facility upgrade strategy has created many opportunities for the club and the wider community, building a strong club culture.<\/p>\n

For Mount Gambier Tennis Club<\/strong>, this award recognises the wide variety of programs on offer, catering for all players from social to competitive levels, with inclusivity a key focus for the club.<\/p>\n

Golden Grove<\/strong> and Greenacres<\/strong> Tennis Clubs<\/strong> were finalists for the City\/Hills accolade, whilst Renmark Tintra Lawn <\/strong>and Strathalbyn Tennis Clubs <\/strong>were in the running to win the rural category.<\/p>\n

Professional athletes Li Tu <\/strong>\u00a0and Petra Hule<\/strong>\u00a0were awarded South Australia\u2019s most prestigious player awards, the Burr <\/strong>and Boyce Medals<\/strong>.\u00a0Kristina Tai<\/strong>\u00a0 took home the Gwen Thiele Memorial Trophy<\/strong> for most outstanding 18-and-under female, while Hugh Winter<\/strong>\u00a0 was awarded the Don Turnbull Memorial Trophy <\/strong>for most outstanding 18-and-under male.<\/p>\n

The City of Port Adelaide Enfield <\/strong>won the award for Most Outstanding Council or Government Department<\/strong>, while Mark Haskett<\/strong>\u00a0was announced as the Most Outstanding Player with a Disability <\/strong>following an outstanding year leaving him ranked No.1 in Australia and No. 2 in the World (B2) in Blind Tennis.<\/p>\n

Peter Clark<\/strong>\u00a0 won of the Most Outstanding Coach – Development <\/strong>award, while Craig Mousley <\/strong>\u00a0took home the Most Outstanding Coach – Club<\/strong> award and Sam Clayson<\/strong>\u00a0won Most Outstanding Coach \u2013 Rural <\/strong>for the second year running. Whilst 100-year-old Henry Young<\/strong>\u00a0won the Most Outstanding 30+ Tennis Senior<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
