{"id":30340,"date":"2023-12-01T23:03:52","date_gmt":"2023-12-01T12:33:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/?p=30340"},"modified":"2023-12-02T00:59:23","modified_gmt":"2023-12-01T14:29:23","slug":"eight-finalists-to-represent-south-australia-at-newcombe-medal-australian-tennis-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/news\/2023\/12\/01\/eight-finalists-to-represent-south-australia-at-newcombe-medal-australian-tennis-awards","title":{"rendered":"Eight finalists to represent South Australia at Newcombe Medal, Australian Tennis Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A record equalling eight finalists are set to lead South Australia at the upcoming\u00a0<strong>2023 Newcombe Medal, Australian Tennis Awards.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Australian Tennis Awards will celebrate the achievements and contributions of tennis clubs, volunteers, officials, coaches, schools, and talented junior players across 13 award categories\u00a0at a gala event to be held at the <strong>Palladium Crown<\/strong> in Melbourne on <strong>Monday 11 December<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Helen Rice<\/strong> has been announced as a finalist for the Coaching Excellence Club award, while <strong>Domenic Marafiote<\/strong> will be a finalist for the Coaching Excellence Development award for the second time. <strong>Darren Cahill<\/strong> will also represent South Australia in the Coaching Excellence Performance category.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Casey Jackson<\/strong> will be in the running for the Excellence in Officiating award, while <strong>Martin Richards<\/strong> has been announced as a finalist in the Most Outstanding Tennis Master category.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Torrens Valley Christian School<\/strong>\u00a0will be vying for the Most Outstanding School award, with <strong>Seacliff Tennis Club<\/strong> looking to win the Most Outstanding Event for their Junior Development Series tournament held in February. <strong>Golden Grove Tennis Club <\/strong>will look to claim the title of Most Outstanding Tennis Club or Venue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are thrilled to congratulate our eight South Australian finalists,\u201d Tennis SA CEO Debbie Sterrey said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese finalists are fantastic ambassadors for our sport.
