{"id":29077,"date":"2023-07-13T05:32:07","date_gmt":"2023-07-12T20:02:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/?p=29077"},"modified":"2023-07-13T05:36:34","modified_gmt":"2023-07-12T20:06:34","slug":"australian-blind-and-low-vision-tennis-team-to-feature-three-south-australians-at-ibsa-world-games-next-month","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/news\/2023\/07\/13\/australian-blind-and-low-vision-tennis-team-to-feature-three-south-australians-at-ibsa-world-games-next-month","title":{"rendered":"Australian Blind and Low Vision tennis team to feature three South Australians at IBSA World Games next month"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Australia\u2019s top Blind and Low Vision (BLV) tennis players have been selected for the upcoming <strong>2023 International Blind Sports Federation<\/strong><strong>\u00a0World Games<\/strong> in <strong>Birmingham<\/strong>,<strong> United Kingdom<\/strong> when they get underway from Friday 18 to Sunday 27 August 2023.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>IBSA World Games<\/strong> is the largest high-level international event for athletes with a visual impairment and will debut tennis for the first time this year.<\/p>\n<p>South Australians <strong>Mark Haskett<\/strong>, <strong>Ricky Segura<\/strong> and <strong>Courtney Lewis<\/strong>, along with coach <strong>Nicholas Bradley<\/strong>, will take their place in the 11-person Australian team. This is\u00a0first time Tennis Australia has supported a Blind and Low Vision Tennis Team at an international event.<\/p>\n<p>Blind and Low Vision tennis is played with an adapted foam ball that can be heard rattling across the court. The courts are also smaller with lines on the court raised to mark certain boundaries.<\/p>\n<p>There are four classifications in the Blind and Low Vision tennis pathway.
