{"id":28150,"date":"2023-02-16T16:42:58","date_gmt":"2023-02-16T06:12:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/?p=28150"},"modified":"2023-02-16T16:50:42","modified_gmt":"2023-02-16T06:20:42","slug":"vale-tricia-thoman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/news\/2023\/02\/16\/vale-tricia-thoman","title":{"rendered":"Vale Tricia Thoman"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The South Australian Tennis family is mourning the loss of Tricia Thoman on Monday 6 February 2023, following illness.<\/p>\n<p>Tricia was a talented sportswoman, with significant involvement in tennis and netball throughout her life.<\/p>\n<p>A Life Member of both Trinity Tennis Club and Port Pirie Tennis Association, Tricia was also a driving force behind the Port Pirie Tennis International over its 26 year history.<\/p>\n<p>Tricia played A grade tennis for more than 50 years, winning 19 ladies singles championships between 1969 and 2010, including a run of 13 consecutive titles. Tricia won three Tennis SA Country Carnival singles titles and was a key member of Port Pirie&#8217;s winning A grade women\u2019s team over many years, going on to play interstate country matches against Victoria.<\/p>\n<p>A much loved and respected coach, Tricia was a mentor for junior players throughout the region, managing junior development coaching squads, junior team training and attending competition matches.<\/p>\n<p>Just last month, Tricia was announced as Port Pirie\u2019s 2023 Australia Day Citizen of the Year.<\/p>\n<p>Tricia was farewelled on Wednesday 15 February 2023 in a service that ended with a guard of honour by members of Trinity Tennis Club, Port Pirie Tennis Association and Port Netball Club.<\/p>\n<p>Please join us as we offer our sincere condolences to Tricia\u2019s husband Peter, daughter Amber and partner Josh, granddaughter Mia, family and friends.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The South Australian Tennis family is mourning the loss of Tricia Thoman on Monday 6 February 2023, following illness.
