{"id":27849,"date":"2022-12-02T07:56:31","date_gmt":"2022-12-01T21:26:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/?p=27849"},"modified":"2022-12-02T07:56:31","modified_gmt":"2022-12-01T21:26:31","slug":"seven-finalists-to-represent-south-australia-at-2022-newcombe-medal-australian-tennis-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/news\/2022\/12\/02\/seven-finalists-to-represent-south-australia-at-2022-newcombe-medal-australian-tennis-awards","title":{"rendered":"Seven finalists to represent South Australia at 2022 Newcombe Medal, Australian Tennis Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Seven finalists are set to lead South Australia at the upcoming\u00a0<strong>2022 Newcombe Medal, Australian Tennis Awards<\/strong>\u00a0following the announcement of finalists today.<\/p>\n<p>Returning to the<strong> Palladium <\/strong>at<strong> Crown <\/strong>on <strong>Monday 12 December<\/strong>, the awards ceremony will recognise the outstanding contribution of the tennis community around Australia.<\/p>\n<p>South Australia is set to be represented in seven out of a possible 13 categories.<\/p>\n<p><strong>David Grainger<\/strong> from Henley South Tennis Club has been announced as a finalist for the Coaching Excellence Club award, and after winning the Coaching Excellence Club award in 2021,<strong> Domenic Marafiote<\/strong> is this year a finalist for the Coaching Excellence Development award.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Robyn Tucker<\/strong> will be a finalist for the Excellence in Officiating award for the second time, while <strong>Ian Delbridge<\/strong> is in the running for the Most Outstanding 30+ Tennis Senior.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Edward Winter<\/strong>\u00a0is a finalist for the Junior Athlete of the Year &#8211; Male category for the second year running. Winter won his first ITF singles title in Traralgon last month with a 6-4 6-2 win over Tristan Schoolkate (WA).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Torrens Valley Christian School<\/strong>\u00a0will be vying for the Most Outstanding School award and Port Lincoln\u2019s<strong> Julie Polkinghorne <\/strong>is a finalist for the Volunteer Achievement Award.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are so excited to congratulate our seven South Australian finalists,\u201d Tennis SA CEO <strong>Debbie Sterrey<\/strong> said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese finalists are wonderful ambassadors for our sport in South Australia.
