{"id":27390,"date":"2022-10-03T17:32:48","date_gmt":"2022-10-03T07:02:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/?p=27390"},"modified":"2022-10-03T17:32:48","modified_gmt":"2022-10-03T07:02:48","slug":"australian-junior-hardcourt-champions-crowned-in-adelaide","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/news\/2022\/10\/03\/australian-junior-hardcourt-champions-crowned-in-adelaide","title":{"rendered":"Australian Junior Hardcourt Champions crowned in Adelaide"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Renee Alame<\/strong> (NSW) is now a two-time Australian champion after taking out the 14-and-under girls\u2019 title at the <strong>2022 12\/u and 14\/u Australian Hardcourt Championships presented by Kia <\/strong>at West Lakes Tennis Club in Adelaide.<\/p>\n<p>Thirteen-year-old Alame defeated No.11 seed Ava Beck (Vic) 6-1 6-2 to claim her second national title of the year after taking home the 12\/u girls\u2019 singles title at the Australian Claycourt Championships in April.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe match was pretty good, I felt like I was playing my game. At the start I was a bit nervous, but as the games went on, I think I got there,\u201d Alame said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is very exciting today. I won the 12-and-under title not that long ago, so to win two in the same year is just amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In other singles finals action, No.2 seed <strong>Lucas Han<\/strong> (Qld) overcame top seed Flynn Coventry-Searle (NSW) 6-2 6-4 to win the 12\/u boys\u2019 championship, top seed <strong>Jennifer Ott<\/strong> (NSW) defeated No.4 seed Aimee Jin (NSW) 6-1 6-1 to win the 12\/u girls\u2019 championship and second seed <strong>Myron Papadimitriou<\/strong> (NSW) defeated Cameron Burton (WA) 5-7 6-3 7-6(3) in just over three hours to win the 14\/u boys\u2019 title.<\/p>\n<p>The finals were a fitting end to a tournament that has hosted 192 players from around Australia over the past week, giving all the opportunity to play for national titles and gain valuable experience.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTennis Australia is pleased to have been able to bring the 12\/u and 14\/u Australian Hardcourt Championships to Adelaide this week,\u201d Tennis Australia Tournament Development Manager, <strong>Francis Soyer <\/strong>said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur congratulations to all of the players who have been a part of the tournament and our thanks to West Lakes Tennis Club and Woodville Orion Tennis Club for their generous hospitality, time and efforts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The next national junior event will be the <strong>December Showdown Masters <\/strong>(3-17 December) at Melbourne Park with the <a href=\"https:\/\/aus01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.tennis.com.au%2Ftopaussieplayers&amp;data=05%7C01%7CBHassam%40Tennis.com.au%7C97d417e7a583483d8e2808daa4e8794f%7C61aa9c8da7734a7c84701dd8062e404a%7C0%7C0%7C638003615644573558%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&amp;sdata=IhdyVK%2Bxqo1%2FEaoS65j%2BfhTO0ubfG7yFwhX%2BS85gPIk%3D&amp;reserved=0\">top-ranked players<\/a> in each of the respective age categories; 18\/u (top 16), 16\/u (top 32), 14\/u (top 16) and 12\/u (top 16), invited to compete against their highest ranked peers.
