{"id":22293,"date":"2021-03-11T15:36:47","date_gmt":"2021-03-11T05:06:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/?p=22293"},"modified":"2021-03-11T15:41:36","modified_gmt":"2021-03-11T05:11:36","slug":"volunteer-and-club-of-the-month-february","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/news\/2021\/03\/11\/volunteer-and-club-of-the-month-february","title":{"rendered":"Volunteer and Club of the Month &#8211; February"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>CLUBS OF THE MONTH\ufeff<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>CUDLEE CREEK TENNIS CLUB<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cudlee Creek Tennis Club<\/strong> are a small community of around 470 residents, with only 2 sporting clubs and one recreational surface \u2013 the Tennis Courts.  <br>The club committee have been working tirelessly over the last 4 years in collaboration with The Adelaide Hills Council, Tennis SA and The Torrens Valley Tennis Association to understand the community better, identify how the club best fits with those needs and ensuring they are providing the best environment for members, visitors and community \u2013 whilst fundraising to resurface courts!  <br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cudlee Creek Tennis Club has also worked hard to obtain grants from FRRR, The Adelaide Hills Council, SERF Grant and ORSR Active Club Grant, from which they were able to purchase new club shirts for all players and additional equipment.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Congratulations to <strong><em>Cudlee Creek Tennis Club!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>PORT LINCOLN TENNIS ASSOCIATION<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Port Lincoln Tennis Association<\/strong> have been committed to increasing their offerings to support the wants and needs of their community. The introduction of the Beginner Pathway, Tuna Tennis coaching program, red, orange and green ball doubles, Fast 4 competition and Juniors and Seniors Foundation Cup Squad has resulted in the most members to date, and the biggest membership base on the Eyre Peninsula!  <br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With $1.2 million dollars contributed through fundraising, sponsors and grant applications, we recognize their completion of a 10-year business plan with upgrades to their clubrooms, surrounds and 16 courts. This has secured welcoming facilities resulting in more members, community usage, usage by Tennis SA for carnivals, Schools interschool competitions, Foundation Cup training, SAPSSA tryouts and training, as well as increased visitors to the region.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Congratulations to <strong><em>Port Lincoln Tennis Association!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>VOLUNTEERS OF THE MONTH\ufeff<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Michelle\nKenley <\/strong>has been involved with Cuddlee Creek Tennis Club and\nTorrens Valley Tennis Association for the past 7 years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In her time at these clubs,\nMichelle has dedicated her time to delivering a better understanding of how the\nclub fits within their community, resulting in better communication and a new\napproach suitable for all generations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She has overseen the senior\nteams get back on court, and ensured they have the support they need each\nseason with coaching. Michelle thrives on the community aspect of tennis and\nloves seeing the support and kindness of other clubs when they come together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Congratulations <em><strong>Michelle!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Julie Polkinghorne<\/strong>\nhas been both the President of Port Lincoln Tennis Association and the Coordinator\nof the Eyre Peninsula Foundation Cup team for 16 years. On top of that, Julie\u2019s\ndedication extends to Captain of Mixed Friday Night team, Coordinator of Men\u2019s\nMonday night, Juniors Thursday night and Saturday morning, and Coordinator of\nEP junior tournaments\u2026 just to name a few! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During Julie\u2019s time with Port\nLincoln Tennis Association, she has secured $1.2 million in upgrades to\nfacilities over a 10-year period.
