This follows the commitment of $44\nmillion in funding from the South Australian Government in November 2020.\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"573\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/files\/2021\/02\/TCCD2_View01-1024x573.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-22131\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/files\/2021\/02\/TCCD2_View01-1024x573.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/files\/2021\/02\/TCCD2_View01-768x430.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The\n$44 million stage two project includes: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The\n     demolition of the <strong>North Stand<\/strong><\/li><li>Construction\n     of new <strong>Northern <\/strong>and<strong> Eastern Facilities <\/strong>linked by a concourse\n     level, with enhanced patron amenities, food and beverage facilities<\/li><li><strong>Northern\n     Facility<\/strong> to include a <strong>Media and\n     Sports Technology Centre<\/strong>, with broadcast facilities, media lounge and\n     space for <strong>high performance sports research <\/strong>and <strong>development <\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Eastern\n     Facility<\/strong> to be integrated with the\n     Adelaide Oval Southern Plaza, incorporating <strong>high performance training<\/strong>\n     facilities, <strong>premium multipurpose event <\/strong>and<strong> function<\/strong> spaces&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>Northern<\/strong>\n     and<strong> Eastern Facilities <\/strong>fully accessible to all levels <\/li><li>Addition\n     of rigging points on the roof and<strong> feature lighting<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Premier <strong>Steven Marshall<\/strong> said stage two will continue the transformation of one of the nation\u2019s most iconic sporting precincts into a state-of-the-art arena for sporting, arts and entertainment events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur\ninvestment in Memorial Drive is a game-changer for our state,\u201d Premier Marshall\nsaid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cInvesting\nin this precinct is positioning South Australia perfectly to be able to attract\nand host more events like <em>A Day at the Drive<\/em> \u2013 the first tennis event in\nfront of a crowd in close to 12 months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTennis\nevents over the next decade are going to drive jobs, vibrancy in our city and\nwill inspire the next generation of South Australian tennis enthusiasts to play\nand train right here at home \u2013 and we couldn\u2019t be more excited.\u201d &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Minister\nfor Recreation, Sport and Racing, <strong>Corey Wingard,<\/strong> said it\u2019s clear the\ngovernment\u2019s investment was paying off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cStage\ntwo will create a world class venue that can accommodate a range of sporting\nand entertainment events,\u201d Minister Wingard said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe\nproject includes two new spectator stands to the east and north of centre court\nwith new seating with great sightlines, food and beverage facilities and\nenhanced amenity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\nwere able to hold <em>A Day at the Drive<\/em> and attract the calibre of players\nwe did because of our investment in the venue \u2013 starting with the roof.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tennis\nSA CEO <strong>Debbie Sterrey<\/strong> is looking forward to works beginning at the\nMemorial Drive centre courts and the home of Tennis SA. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\nare thrilled the State Government is investing $44 million towards stage two of\nthe Memorial Drive redevelopment,\u201d Sterrey said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis\nfunding will continue the transformation of our venue and see it achieve its\npotential as a vibrant sporting, community, entertainment and innovation hub,\nwhilst ensuring the venue\u2019s heritage is retained for years to come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\nlook forward to works beginning in March, following the Adelaide International\nand we thank the South Australian Government for their continued support of\ntennis in our state.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With\na 6,500 seat stadium in a prime location in the centre of Adelaide and the\nflexibility to host a wider variety of community, sporting and entertainment\nevents, Memorial Drive will become an even more valuable asset for all South\nAustralians. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nupgrade will also make the venue an attractive proposition for other high\nprofile tennis events such as Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup (formerly Fed\nCup). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nredevelopment will commence in March and will be event
