{"id":2199,"date":"2011-04-12T10:33:14","date_gmt":"2011-04-12T01:03:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/?p=2199"},"modified":"2011-04-12T10:33:14","modified_gmt":"2011-04-12T01:03:14","slug":"orange-ball-a-hit-for-beginners","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/news\/2011\/04\/12\/orange-ball-a-hit-for-beginners","title":{"rendered":"Orange ball, a hit for beginners."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Throughout the 2010\/11 summer season four South Australian tennis associations (Eastern Districts, Hills, Barossa &amp; Light and Pt Lincoln) piloted an MLC Tennis Hot Shots Orange Ball competition which delivered successful results.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Andrew Wilson, Community Tennis Officer said \u201c<em>The MLC Tennis Hot Shots Orange Ball competition was created to prepare children 7-9 years with the necessary skills and confidence to eventually play on a full-size court with a yellow ball.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Through the recent Orange Ball competition we have seen over 200 children\u2019s confidence grow as they learn to serve, rally and score in a match and having success straight away<\/em>!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>MLC Tennis Hots Shots sees children progressing through the three different stages (red, orange and green) as their ability improves.\u00a0 At each stage, players use low-compression balls in combination with three different court sizes.
