The\ninaugural South Australian Teams Challenge <\/strong>will be held in Adelaide\nstarting today. Tennis SA, in conjunction with West Lakes Tennis Club, will\nhost the brand new event from Monday 14 to Tuesday 15 December 2020. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nSouth Australian Teams Challenge will see representative teams from Regional\nSouth Australia<\/strong> and Metropolitan South Australia<\/strong> take on each other\nin 13\/u, 15\/u and 17\/u age groups. An individual event will utilise Universal Tennis Ratings (UTR) to provide further competitive play\nopportunities for participants.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nevent is the next step in the pathway for regional players, with the top three\nparticipants in each age group selected from their performance in the individual component of the State Foundation Cup held in Berri in\nOctober. In the past, selection has seen players\nearn the right to represent Regional South Australia at the national level,\nhowever this was not possible in 2020 due to the COVID pandemic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tennis SA\nHead of Tournaments and Competitions,\nDylan Hicks<\/strong> is excited to welcome players to Adelaide.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\nare pleased to be hosting the inaugural South Australian Teams Challenge after\nwhat has continued to be a difficult year,\u201d Hicks\nsaid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhilst\nwe are disappointed that the COVID pandemic prevented our usual pathway to\nrepresent the state nationally, this new event has presented a wonderful\nopportunity to bring together players from around the state. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\nlook forward to welcoming the players and their families to West Lakes Tennis\nClub and hope they enjoy what is sure to be a fantastic event.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
