{"id":20721,"date":"2020-08-06T15:49:07","date_gmt":"2020-08-06T06:19:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/?p=20721"},"modified":"2020-08-06T15:50:39","modified_gmt":"2020-08-06T06:20:39","slug":"30000-kids-to-make-a-racquet-as-tennis-roadshow-returns-to-schools","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/news\/2020\/08\/06\/30000-kids-to-make-a-racquet-as-tennis-roadshow-returns-to-schools","title":{"rendered":"30,000 kids to make a \u2018racquet\u2019 as tennis roadshow returns to schools"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Thirty-thousand first year primary school students<\/strong> from <strong>more than 800<\/strong> schools across Australia are set to receive brand new tennis racquets as communities return to sport over the coming months, and continue to find creative ways to get active.<\/p>\n<p>The fourth edition of the <strong>ANZ Tennis Hot Shots Racquet Roadshow<\/strong> will have a virtual twist this year, with ambassadors dialing into schools across South Australia through video calls.<\/p>\n<p>Tennis legends such as Todd Woodbridge and John Fitzgerald will be virtually dropping into schools to inspire students to pick up their new racquet and swing into action.<\/p>\n<p>By December, <strong>170,000 racquets<\/strong> will have been delivered to schools since 2015, thanks to ANZ.<\/p>\n<p>This initiative to introduce more kids to tennis comes as reports continued to be released about declining levels of activity in children.\u00a0 These racquets will help get kids moving at school, home and in the community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are so many skills that kids can develop at a young age by playing tennis, regardless of whether that\u2019s on the court, in their backyard or even in their lounge room,\u201d said Australian tennis legend <strong>Todd Woodbridge<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur partnership with ANZ will give <strong>over 3100 kids<\/strong> across South Australia the opportunity to get active and lead a healthy lifestyle,\u201d Tennis SA CEO <strong>Debbie Sterrey<\/strong> said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTennis Australia\u2019s partnership with ANZ has helped us to put more racquets in children\u2019s hands than ever before.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re really proud of our continued support of tennis at a grassroots level, encouraging Australians to get active and look after their wellbeing,\u201d said <strong>Katherine Bray,<\/strong> Managing Director Retail at ANZ.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver the past five years this partnership with Tennis Australia has delivered racquets to thousands of communities across the country, helping young kids to get involved in community sports like tennis.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>ANZ Tennis Hot Shots Racquet Roadshow fast facts<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>ANZ Tennis Hot Shots Racquet Roadshow <\/strong>will deliver brand new tennis racquets to first year primary school age children across <strong>all states and territories<\/strong> in Australia for the fourth consecutive year<\/li>\n<li>By the end of 2020, a total of <strong>170,000 racquets <\/strong>will have been delivered to children since 2015, thanks to ANZ<\/li>\n<li>Tennis Australia\u2019s <strong>School Partnership Program<\/strong> aims to give children the opportunity to pick up a racquet and play tennis as part of their health and physical education curriculum<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For further information about <strong>ANZ Tennis Hot Shots,<\/strong> please visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hotshots.tennis.com.au\">www.hotshots.tennis.com.au<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thirty-thousand first year primary school students from more than 800 schools across Australia are set to receive brand new tennis racquets as communities return to sport over the coming months, and continue to find creative ways to get active.
