Do you know someone that has a genuine interest and passion for advancing the sport of tennis in SA?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tennis SA is the governing body of Tennis in South Australia. Our purpose is to showcase, promote, develop and manage the game of tennis in South Australia.<\/p>\n

Tennis SA is governed by a Board of ten Directors charged with the strategic development and growth of the sport for 55,000+ tennis participants and nearly 300 affiliated tennis Clubs, Associations, Centres & Schools in South Australia. The Tennis SA Board Charter sets out roles and responsibilities of the Board of Directors of Tennis SA. The Tennis SA Board Charter can be found here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

2020 is an exciting time for someone to join the Board of Tennis SA and be part of team that shapes new policies, plans and systems needed to grow tennis participation and build on existing and new partnerships and continue South Australia\u2019s long history of tennis success.<\/p>\n

Tennis SA now seeks nominations for three Board Director positions.\u00a0 The three positions are:<\/p>\n

1. Female Director* elected by the Tennis SA Council (currently occupied by Alice Clark who is eligible for re-election)<\/p>\n

2. Director elected by the Tennis SA Council (currently occupied by Neville Messenger who is no longer eligible for re-election due to our Constitution\u2019s tenure requirements)<\/p>\n

3. Director elected by the Tennis SA Council (currently vacant since the resignation of Debbie Sterrey)<\/p>\n

*Special circumstances this year:<\/u><\/strong> The Tennis SA Board supports gender diversity (and diversity more generally) on the board.\u00a0 One of the strategies implemented to improve gender balance on the Tennis SA Board has been amendments to the Tennis SA constitution in March 2018 to have a mandated female board position elected to the Tennis SA Board.\u00a0 This is the second opportunity for someone to be elected to the Tennis SA Board in that manner.<\/p>\n

Desired Characteristics:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Here are some of the characteristics we are looking for in a new Board member of Tennis SA.\u00a0 It is important that the person(s) your Association nominates has at least one or two of these characteristics, but definitely not essential to have all of these:<\/p>\n

1. A passion for tennis in SA<\/p>\n

2. Ideas to grow our sport<\/p>\n

3. Experience working or leading diverse teams<\/p>\n

4. Understanding of how to manage risk<\/p>\n

5. An accounting or financial background<\/p>\n

6. An understanding of how Local, State or Federal Government works<\/p>\n

7. Strong business networks<\/p>\n

8. Experience working or volunteering within tennis<\/p>\n

Location and Time Commitment<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

The Board currently meets formally 11 times each year. The majority of board meetings are held at Tennis SA, North Adelaide, on the third Monday of the month at 6pm.<\/p>\n
