{"id":17953,"date":"2019-04-28T18:18:33","date_gmt":"2019-04-28T08:48:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/?p=17953"},"modified":"2019-06-28T15:52:47","modified_gmt":"2019-06-28T06:22:47","slug":"somerton-park-and-renmark-tintra-lawn-take-home-most-outstanding-tennis-club-titles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/news\/2019\/04\/28\/somerton-park-and-renmark-tintra-lawn-take-home-most-outstanding-tennis-club-titles","title":{"rendered":"Somerton Park and Renmark Tintra Lawn take home Most Outstanding Tennis Club titles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Somerton Park<\/strong> (City\/Hills) and <strong>Renmark Tintra Lawn<\/strong> (Rural) have been announced as South Australia\u2019s <strong>Most Outstanding Tennis Clubs <\/strong>in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>The awards were presented at the Tennis SA Awards Dinner, held at the Hilton Adelaide, in front of 250 attendees on Saturday night.<\/p>\n<p>Following a strong focus on junior participation in recent years, Somerton Park Tennis Club has created a pathway to support and give opportunities to players at all levels. The club is also home to the South Australian Blind Tennis Program, claiming the <strong>Most Outstanding Inclusion Program <\/strong>award earlier in the evening.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are thrilled to have been announced as the Most Outstanding Tennis Club for the City and Hills,\u201d said Somerton Park Tennis Club President <strong>David Thomas. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have put an enormous focus on growing the club through ANZ Tennis Hot Shots and to see that work paying off is so rewarding.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA huge thank you to our committee, coaching team and club members for their constant support and commitment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For Renmark Tintra Lawn Tennis Club, this award sees them take home their first Most Outstanding Tennis Club title after being a finalist in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>The club prides itself on being dynamic, progressive and inclusive, offering a wide range of programs for the community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are so honoured to have won the rural award for Most Outstanding Tennis Club,\u201d said Renmark Tintra Lawn Tennis Club President <strong>John Pick. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is a huge team effort and wouldn\u2019t be possible without our dedicated committee and members who we would very much like to thank.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>East Torrens Kensington Gardens, Greenacres and Rostrevor were contenders for the City\/Hills accolade, whilst Crystal Brook, Two Wells District and Victor Harbor were finalists in the rural category.<\/p>\n<p>The Tennis SA Awards Dinner celebrates players, coaches, clubs, schools, communities, volunteers and officials for their service to the sport in South Australia.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alex Bolt <\/strong>(Murray Bridge, SA) and<strong> Amber Marshall<\/strong> (Gulfview Heights, SA) were awarded South Australia\u2019s most prestigious player awards, the<strong> Burr and Boyce Awards<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Marshall<\/strong> also took home the <strong>Gwen Thiele Memorial Trophy<\/strong> for most outstanding 18-and-under female, while <strong>Oliver Douglas<\/strong> (Coromandel Valley, SA) won the <strong>Don Turnbull Memorial Trophy <\/strong>for most outstanding 18-and-under male.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>City of Marion <\/strong>won the award for <strong>Most Outstanding Council or Government Department, <\/strong>while <strong>Sam von Einem <\/strong>(Glengowrie, SA) was announced as the <strong>Most Outstanding Player with a Disability<\/strong> for the third year running.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sam Wall <\/strong>(Aberfoyle Park, SA) took home the <strong>Coaching Excellence &#8211;
