Broadview’s number one Mislav Bosnjak won the crucial top singles rubber over Captain Andrew Tavella in straight sets to set his team up for the win. Singles wins to Broadview’s Asykal Azhar and Martin Richards also played a major part in the victory.

Broadview will now take on Glenlea in what shapes to be a mouthwatering affair. Broadview’s number one Mislav Bosnjak has been instrumental in his team’s success so far and will need to continue his fine season when he takes on Jack Schipanski this Sunday.

Broadview’s Asykal Azhar and Josh Boots will provide an exciting match up while in form Broadview’s Martin Richards will have to be at his best ahead of an expected match up with Stefan Bianchet.

In the Statewide Super Women’s competition, Pembroke took on Seaside in the battle of the young guns. Seaside number one Natasha Russell was impressive in her win over promising young gun Meeka Marshall in an epic three set battle which was then followed by a straight set win from Maggie Pearce. Pembroke then bit back with Juliette Robinson defeating Sacha Rankin in straight sets and Elim Yam following suit.

With rubbers split at two a piece after singles it came down to the doubles where Pembroke’s pairings of Tsoukalas and Robinson at two played as if there was only one outcome and that was to move themselves into the big dance which they secured after a straight set victory and Marshall claiming the second set in her singles to put them in an unbeatable position.

Pembroke will now take on State League Powerhouse, The Drive. The Drive are led by experienced pairing Melanie Clayton and Melissa Beadman at one and two singles position. While Youngsters Jasmine Adams and Alana Repanich also provide valuable depth to the The Drive line up.

Pembroke are hungry for an upset against the more experienced Drive team. The line-up could see Amber Marshall returning, which would see the depth of the team strengthened.

State League Grand Final

Matches commence at Midday Sunday 24 March at Memorial Drive Tennis Centre.

Men: Glenlea – vs – Broadview Tigers

Women: The Drive – vs – Pembroke

> Facebook Event

Broadview have made it through to the Men’s State League Grand Final after overcoming last year’s premiers Trinity Gardens, three rubbers to one.
