{"id":15968,"date":"2018-10-15T13:26:58","date_gmt":"2018-10-15T02:56:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/?p=15968"},"modified":"2018-10-15T15:56:27","modified_gmt":"2018-10-15T05:26:27","slug":"state-league-rd-1-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/news\/2018\/10\/15\/state-league-rd-1-report","title":{"rendered":"State League Rd 1 Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>State League kicked off on Saturday the 13<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0of October with the Men\u2019s &amp; Women\u2019s team\u2019s ready to compete for their club to get the first points on the board for the season.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2017\/18 Champions Trinity Titans <\/strong><strong>started where they finished off<\/strong><strong>, <\/strong><strong>beating the new addition to the competition in Golden Grove by one set.<\/strong> The match of the day was the number one single, where Golden Groves Nathan Eshmade overcame Andrew Tavella in three sets.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Collingrove<\/strong>\u00a0got their season off to a strong start when they snuck past\u00a0<strong>Tea Tree Gully<\/strong>\u00a0four rubbers to two. Matt Teivans was Collingrove\u2019s key player on the day with a strong two set win over Dale Nixon at second single.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kingswood<\/strong>\u00a0made a statement to start off the season with a dominant win over\u00a0<strong>Broadview<\/strong>. Kingswood\u2019s Sean Van Rensburg started strongly with a straight sets win over Asykal Azhar at top single. Both Kingswood\u2019s doubles pairings were able finish off strongly only dropping one rubber for the match.<\/p>\n<p>In the battle of two young clubs,\u00a0<strong>Glenlea<\/strong>\u00a0came out on top against\u00a0<strong>The Drive<\/strong>\u00a0five rubbers to one. Glenlea\u2019s Jack Schipanski Defeated Stefan Norodom at top single with Schipanski taking it out in two sets to get Glenlea off to a strong start. Patrick Luke got The Drive\u2019s only rubber in Singles when he defeated Sam May in straight sets.<\/p>\n<p>In the women\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statewide.com.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Statewide Super<\/a> State League newcomer\u00a0<strong>Pembroke<\/strong>\u00a0came up against\u00a0<strong>Kingswood <\/strong><strong>in round 1<\/strong>. Kingswood\u2019s number one Nicole Kraemer got her team off to a good start with a 6-0 3-6 6-1 win over Meeka Marshall. Kingswood kept momentum to win four rubbers to two.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Denman<\/strong> returned to State League competition where they were able to hold off\u00a0<strong>Glenlea<\/strong>\u00a0by two games getting their season off to a very good start. The match of the day was between Denman\u2019s number two Jacqui Scott and Glenlea\u2019s Eboney Harper who fought out a tight three set match with Scott prevailing.<\/p>\n<p>As the rivalry between these two clubs continues,\u00a0<strong>The Drive<\/strong>\u00a0came out on top against\u00a0<strong>Seaside<\/strong>\u00a0by one set. Seaside\u2019s Natasha Russell was in strong form with a straight set win over Melanie Clayton.
