and Wren take home gold medals at Special Olympics Australia National Games"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Mitchell James<\/strong> (Qld) and <strong>Kelly Wren<\/strong> (NSW) are the <strong>Special Olympics Australia National Games<\/strong> division one gold medallists after taking out the titles in West Lakes.<\/p>\n<p>The Special Olympics Australia National Games were held in Adelaide from 16-20 April, with 49 competitors from around Australia taking part in the tennis component held over three days.<\/p>\n<p>Held every four years, the Special Olympics Australia National Games give players with an intellectual disability the opportunity to compete and demonstrate their skills and sportsmanship on a national level.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Andriana Petrakis<\/strong> (Allenby Gardens, SA) and<strong> Peter Kerin<\/strong> (Greenwith, SA) represented Team South Australia, with both players finishing a commendable fourth in their respective divisions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWest Lakes Tennis Club is thrilled to have hosted the tennis component of the Special Olympics Australia National Games,\u201d said West Lakes Tennis Club President <strong>Col Lawson<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHosting the athletes and their support staff has been a truly rewarding experience that our club members and volunteers will remember for quite some time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe smiles on the faces of the athletes say it all and we couldn\u2019t be more proud to have been involved in this wonderful event.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTennis SA was delighted to have been a part of the Special Olympics Australia National Games,\u201d said Tennis SA CEO <strong>Steven Baldas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe National Games provide opportunities for athletes with an intellectual disability in an environment that is welcoming, inclusive and fun.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Special Olympics Australia National Games medallists
