{"id":14209,"date":"2018-01-03T21:44:26","date_gmt":"2018-01-03T11:14:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/?p=14209"},"modified":"2018-01-03T21:44:26","modified_gmt":"2018-01-03T11:14:26","slug":"day-5-city-of-playford-tennis-international","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/news\/2018\/01\/03\/day-5-city-of-playford-tennis-international","title":{"rendered":"Day 5 &#8211; City of Playford Tennis International"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Day 5 has followed a similar path to Day 4 with upsets leaving us with just five seeds remaining in the women\u2019s singles draw the City of Playford Tennis International.<\/p>\n<p>Romanian <strong>Alexandra Dulgheru<\/strong> defeated number one seed <strong>Lin Zhu <\/strong>(CHN) 0-6 7-5 6-2, whilst second seed <strong>Jil Teichmann<\/strong> (SUI) defeated Canberra\u2019s <strong>Alison Bai<\/strong> 6-2 4-6 7-5. <strong>Vera Zvonareva\u2019s<\/strong> comeback will continue tomorrow following a 2-6 6-2 7-5 win this afternoon over American qualifier <strong>Allie Kiick.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the men\u2019s, qualifier <strong>Marinko Matosevic<\/strong> (Vic) played an outstanding match to defeat <strong>Tobias Kamke<\/strong> (GER) 6-2 6-0 and Australian wildcard recipient <strong>Omar Jasika<\/strong> (Vic) defeated America\u2019s <strong>Tommy Paul<\/strong> 6-3 6-3.<\/p>\n<p>The men\u2019s doubles quarterfinals were also played today with <strong>Maverick Banes\/Jason Kubler <\/strong>(Qld) and <strong>Max Purcell<\/strong> (NSW)\/<strong>Luke Saville<\/strong> (SA) booking themselves places in tomorrow\u2019s all-Aussie semifinal. <strong>Mackenzie McDonald\/Tommy Paul<\/strong> (USA) and <strong>Tobias Kamke\/Oscar Otte<\/strong> (GER) will play in the other semifinal, having been on the receiving end of walkovers in their respective quarterfinal matches.<\/p>\n<p>The Day 5 schedule includes men\u2019s quarterfinals, second round women\u2019s singles matches, along with two men\u2019s doubles semifinals.<\/p>\n<p>Australia\u2019s <strong>Jason Kubler<\/strong> (Qld) will open Centre Court against eighth seed <strong>Uladzimir Ignatik <\/strong>(BLR), followed by South Australia\u2019s <strong>Alex Bolt<\/strong> and wildcard recipient<strong> Marc Polmans<\/strong> (Vic).
