It is just 30 days until tennis fans from across Adelaide will have the chance to rub shoulders with some of the world\u2019s best tennis players when the City of Playford Tennis International <\/strong>hits Playford City Tennis Centre from 30 December to 7 January 2018.<\/p>\n

Local tennis fans will be able to see top 100 ranked players and up-and-coming tennis stars from around the world compete in the USD $75,000 Men\u2019s Challenger and USD $25,000 Women\u2019s ITF Futures tournament, giving players the opportunity to compete for a slice of the USD $100,000 total prize pool, as well as collect valuable world ranking points.<\/p>\n

In a major coup for its organisers, the tournament will be the first Australian Pro Tour event held at the brand new international-standard Playford City Tennis Centre.<\/p>\n

While the on-court action will be the main event, organisers have worked hard to coordinate a range of opportunities for the community to enjoy.<\/p>\n

A 50-strong team of volunteers will look after the behind-the-scenes operations of the event, as well as player, court and transport services.<\/p>\n

City of Playford Mayor Glenn Docherty<\/strong> mentioned that children have also been given the opportunity to join the team, with around 50 young tennis fans set to hit the court as ballkids following training in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a great opportunity for our younger Playford residents to learn new skills and get involved in our first international tennis tournament,\u201d Docherty said.<\/p>\n

Celebrations for the tournament will kick off with a free family fun day at Prince George Plaza<\/strong> on Tuesday 19 December from 10.00 am to 2.00 pm, with mini tennis courts, Speed Serve, Hit the Target and digital tennis fun. Participants will also be given the chance to put their name in the draw to toss the coin on centre court during the tournament.<\/p>\n

During the week players from local tennis clubs will participate in ANZ Tennis Hot Shots <\/strong>and Fitbit Cardio Tennis<\/strong> activations on centre court as a prelude to the main draw matches. Participants will also be treated to a behind-the-scenes tour of the tournament.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis event offers a fantastic opportunity for the local community to see world class tennis right in their backyard,\u201d said Tennis SA CEO Steven Baldas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
