{"id":13928,"date":"2017-11-17T07:33:55","date_gmt":"2017-11-16T21:03:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/?p=13928"},"modified":"2017-11-17T10:24:14","modified_gmt":"2017-11-16T23:54:14","slug":"tennisfest-announces-partnership-with-the-australian-melanoma-research-foundation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/news\/2017\/11\/17\/tennisfest-announces-partnership-with-the-australian-melanoma-research-foundation","title":{"rendered":"TennisFest announces partnership with the Australian Melanoma Research Foundation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tennis SA today announced a charity partnership with the<strong> Australian Melanoma Research Foundation <\/strong>(AMRF) for <strong>TennisFest. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Established in 2009, the AMRF is a not-for-profit organisation with the purpose of funding research into a cure for melanoma, raising awareness of its risks and providing support to those affected by melanoma.<\/p>\n<p>The partnership will kick off with the <strong>TennisFest Ace Chase<\/strong> at the State League grand final rematch, taking place Sunday 19 November at the <strong>Playford City Tennis Centre<\/strong>, $20 for each ace served will be donated to the AMRF, courtesy of the Australian Tennis Foundation and Tennis SA.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Australian Melanoma Research Foundation is thrilled to come on board as the official charity partner for Tennis SA\u2019s TennisFest,\u201d <strong>Rachael Sporn,<\/strong> CEO AMRF said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMelanoma is the third most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australian men and women.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith this in mind, TennisFest was an ideal fit to continue to raise further awareness of this disease.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The connection with the AMRF was a logical partnership for TennisFest said Tennis SA CEO,<strong> Steven Baldas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFollowing the passing of our former Tennis SA President, Bill Cossey AM, as a result of melanoma in July this year, it made sense for us to partner with the AMRF,\u2019 Baldas said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are passionate about raising awareness of melanoma in memory of Bill, and we saw TennisFest as the perfect opportunity to do so.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are grateful to Rachael and her team for their support over the past several months, and we look forward to this partnership continuing well into the future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The State League Grand Final rematches will be played between Glenlea and Trinity Gardens in the men\u2019s and The Drive and Seaside in the women\u2019s, matches will start at 1.00pm.<\/p>\n<p>Donation boxes will be available at TennisFest venues throughout the week.
