Peake Gardens-Riverside 1-29<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Round 4 of the Junior State League Season commenced at Millswood Tennis Centre, where the reigning premiers Goodwood took on Peake Gardens-Riverside.\u00a0 These two teams were battling it out for second spot on the ladder, and on paper looked close.\u00a0 Both teams were missing players. Amber Marshall was missing and sister Meeka only playing doubles for Peake Gardens.\u00a0 On the other side Goodwood were without Marit Gillam and Nicola Pavlic.\u00a0 This would test both team lists depth and at the end of the night it would be Goodwood victorious.\u00a0 Williams (9-2) and Kristo (9-1) were dominant for the Saints at the top in the first two singles rubbers, with McColl (9-6) and Kentwell (9-8) fighting out close battles but prevailing and making it the singles sweep for Goodwood.\u00a0 \u00a0Meeka Marshall and Ashlee Shields just snuck past Erica Williams and Andrea Kristo (7-6) in the top double to get the Peake Gardens girl\u2019s on the board.\u00a0 However, McColl and Kentwell made it 5-1 for Goodwood in the second double.\u00a0 Peake will look to bounce back this week to stay in touch with top two, whereas Goodwood will be keen to keep their strong recent form going.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Hahndorf 0-12 def. by Seacliff 6-48<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Seacliff travelled up to the Hills to do battle with Hahndorf.\u00a0 The impressive Seacliff outfit put on another incredible display of tennis.\u00a0 Despite being without Charlotte Kampaners-Pocz, and new Player of the Year favourite Jasmine Adams, they got the job done with a minimum of fuss, again showing their impressive depth.\u00a0 Hahndorf badly missed Kara Tscharke at the top.\u00a0 Seacliff got off to a great start with Cydney Crumbie doing the job at number 1 (9-1), with Harper (9-2), Riessen (9-3) and Bennett (9-1) all putting in a strong singles showing for the away team.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The doubles continued on in a similar fashion with Seacliff getting it done in both pairings (6-3) and (6-2).\u00a0 Hahndorf still find themselves in the top 4, however, they will need to get back into the winners list this week if they want to stay there.\u00a0 Seacliff on the other hand remain undefeated this season and to be honest it is difficult to see where their first loss is coming from.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Happy Valley 4-37 def. West Lakes 2-34<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>West Lakes travelled down to Happy Valley, with both teams looking to make their move up towards the top 4.\u00a0 Happy Valley\u2019s captain Heidi Evans showed her class in the top single (9-3), but West Lakes Anne-Marie Savas returned serve taking out the second single for the travelling side (9-3).\u00a0 From there Happy Valley took out the last two singles via Nancarrow and Nalluri in tight matches (9-4) and (9-8) respectively.\u00a0 The doubles rubbers were shared one a piece, with Evans and Norris (Happy Valley) taking the first double (6-4) and Antoniadis and Savas (West Lakes) taking the second double in convincing fashion (6-1).\u00a0 Both teams are still only percentage off the top four and will be looking for big wins this week to begin their climbs up the ladder.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Junior State League Boys<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Seaside 5-43 def. Hahndorf 1-31<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Hahndorf travelled down to Seaside in the first match of the boy\u2019s Junior State League in round 4.\u00a0 Seaside were looking to consolidate a spot in the top 4 and Hahndorf were eyeing off their first win for the season.\u00a0 The first single of the night was a beauty. Terry \u2018Crowd Favourite\u2019 Karahalios took on Hamish Crawford and it went the journey.\u00a0 Karahalios proved too good in the final stages getting up (9-7).\u00a0\u00a0 Doni Gashi (9-4), Lachlan Hill (9-5), and Cooper Lambert (9-5) continued the run of good form for Seaside all getting up in their singles.\u00a0 Hamish Crawford and Noah Phillips bucked the trend in the top double with a sensational display of team tennis, getting up (6-1).\u00a0\u00a0 However, Hill and Pilkington closed out a clinical nights work for the Seaside boy\u2019s getting up (6-4) in the second double.\u00a0 Seaside continue to stay in the mix for those valuable top 4 spots come the end of the season,\u00a0 while Hahndorf will need to start banking some wins soon.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Trinity 4-38 def. Tea Tree Gully 2-34<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In somewhat of a surprise results, Trinity just got over the line against fellow top 2 challenger Tea Tree Gully on Friday night.\u00a0\u00a0 Both sides were missing some quality, with Jared Waterman away for Trinity and Alex Carroll absent for Tea Tree Gully.\u00a0 Dale Nixon was superb early, taking out the top single (9-3) against the talented Callum Gale.\u00a0 Grohbrruegge got a big win at number two for Trinity, defeating Connor Gibson (9-3).\u00a0 Henry Lamchinniah got Tea Tree Gully back in the driver\u2019s seat with a handy (9-4) victory, but Jack Wu (Trinity) evened it up (9-3) at two rubbers a piece in the final singles.\u00a0 The doubles were two hard fought battles, with Gale and Grohbrugge edging out Nixon and Gibson in the top double (6-4), and Ilic and Wu standing up to be counted, and getting Trinity the huge win with a (7-6) win in the final rubber of the night.\u00a0 Trinity draw closer to taking Tea Tree Gully\u2019s second spot on the ladder, while Tea Tree Gully will be keen to bounce back this week, to ensure their round 6 \u2018Super Round\u2019 showdown with Coro is a top two battle.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Glenunga 0-18 def. by Coromandel Valley 6-48<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Glenunga were faced with the enormous task of taking on the daunting Coromandel Valley boys in round 4.\u00a0 Glenunga gave them a good push in all bar one of the rubbers, however, Coro proved again why they will take some serious stopping, to prevent them going back to back.\u00a0 Olley Douglas, in his second week in a row at number 1, got the job done against the Glenunga skip, David Wang, in a tough match (9-5).\u00a0 Sam \u2018The Glue\u2019 Sanderson didn\u2019t have it all his own way, with David Jung providing a few headaches.\u00a0 However, come the end of the rubber, \u2018The Glue\u2019 again got it done with a (9-3) victory.\u00a0 Patrick Douglas was good (9-3), and Brookly Burley continued his good trot of form with a (9-4) win in the final single.\u00a0 The first double was over quickly, with Sam \u2018The Glue\u2019 Sanderson and Patrick Douglas providing a strong showing getting up (6-0).\u00a0 Jung and Catalano tried hard for Glenunga in the second double, however, it would be Mascione and Burley giving Coro the clean sweep (6-3).\u00a0 Glenunga will be looking to build on their improved showing and get a win this week, whereas, dare I say it, the Coro juggernaut marches on again\u2026 However, stay tuned for the \u2018Super Round\u2019 preview next week for a potential upset in the making\u2026<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Peake Gardens-Riverside 1-29 def. by Seacliff 5-45<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the final match of the round Seacliff started to well and truly get their mojo back in the boy\u2019s division, with a quality display of tennis against the Peake Gardens-Riverside unit.\u00a0 The night started well for Peake Gardens, with Ben Cahill getting the W against the dangerous Stefan Bianchet (9-6).\u00a0 Kristo Daminato get Seacliff on the board with a solid (9-5) win.\u00a0 The highly-talented Koeroessy (9-6) and Brain (9-5) ensured the ledger was in Seacliff\u2019s favour following the singles.\u00a0 From there it was all Seacliff, with the away side taking the first double, thanks to some impressive hitting from Bianchet and Daminato (6-3), followed by Koeroessy and Brain making it a 5-1 win for Seacliff (6-1).\u00a0 With that win Seacliff move ahead of Peake Gardens and take their spot in the top 4.\u00a0 Don\u2019t be surprised to see these two teams do battle late in the season for a finals spot.
