Happy Valley 0-16<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Round 3 of the Junior State League Girl\u2019s competition kicked off at the Seacliff Tennis Club.\u00a0 It was blustery, tricky conditions, and it was the home team that seemed to adjust quicker and more effectively.\u00a0 Jasmine Adams continued on her merry way, and solidified her fantastic start to the season by beating the Happy Valley skipper Heidi Evans 9-4 in the top single.\u00a0 It was then Crumbie (9-3), Harper (9-1) and Riessen (9-5) who consolidated for Seacliff to give them a match winning lead heading into the doubles.\u00a0 \u00a0Despite some fight from Evans and Weatherall for Happy Valley in the top double, it would prove a disappointing night for the Happy Valley girl\u2019s dropping all 6 rubbers.\u00a0 Seacliff, again without the injured Charlotte Kempenaers-Pocz, proved they are the early season premiership favourites, continuing their undefeated start to the season, and sitting pretty atop the ladder after round 3.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>West Lakes 2-29 def. by Goodwood 4-41<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Down at West Lakes, the conditions weren\u2019t any kinder for the players.\u00a0 It was Goodwood\u2019s Erica Williams adjusting quickly, and rolling on with strong early season form, to win the top single (9-1).\u00a0 Andrea Kristo would make it two from two for \u2018The Saints\u2019 with a marathon match against West Lakes Madison Schwarz (9-7).\u00a0\u00a0 Chloe Schwarz (West Lakes) then gave the home side a sniff with a superb win against the talented Laila McColl (9-2).\u00a0\u00a0 However, Alexis Kentwell put the win within arm\u2019s reach for the Goodwood side with a win (9-3) in the fourth single.\u00a0 Unfortunately for West Lakes, Williams and Kristo would prove too strong in the top double, beating Lee and Carmichael (6-2) and sealing the deal for the reigning champs to get them back on track with their second win for the season.\u00a0 The West Lakes girl\u2019s fought it out strongly, winning the second double by the skin of their teeth (7-6).\u00a0 West Lakes will be looking to atone strongly next week to stay around the mark, while Goodwood will look to continue moving towards a top 2 position.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Peake Gardens-Riverside 3-40 def. Hahndorf 3-31<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the final match-up for the Girl\u2019s JSL round 3 fixture, Peake-Garden\u2019s Riverside hosted Hahndorf in what would prove a very close battle, with a fight for a top 2 position.\u00a0 Kara Tscharke (Hahndorf) proved she\u2019s one of the best players in the comp, beating young-gun Meeka Marshall in the top single (9-6).\u00a0 Hayley Waterman then returned serve for \u2018The Slugs\u2019, in a fantastic performance, defeating Hahndorf\u2019s Juliette Robinson (in her first showing of the season) (9-1).\u00a0\u00a0 After Tobin (9-7) and Smith (9-6) took out the third and fourth singles, things were looking rosey for Hahndorf with a 3-1 lead heading in to the doubles.\u00a0 At this stage Peake-Gardens could have been forgiven for dropping their heads and losing gallantly.\u00a0 However, they proved how important a good doubles pairing can be, with the Marshall sisters putting on a clinic in the top double (6-1), with Waterman and Tsoukalas finishing off the huge comeback in the second double (6-2).\u00a0 At the end of the day it would be Peake Gardens-Riverside sneaking in to the top 2, with Hahndorf licking their wounds after a disappointing loss.<\/p>\n<h5>Junior State League Boy&#8217;s Round 3<\/h5>\n<p><strong><em>Coromandel Valley 6-49 def. Trinity 0-28<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the first match of Round 3 for the Boy\u2019s Junior State League, it was an early season top-of-the-table grudge match, with the reigning premiers Coromandel Valley playing host to the undefeated Trinity Titans.\u00a0 With Van Rensburg away, Ollie Douglas (Coromandel Valley) stepped up and did battle with Round 2 \u2018Player of Year\u2019 leader Jared Waterman (Trinity).\u00a0 These two played some high-class tennis, but at the end of the day it would be Douglas winning his first game as the top single (9-7) in what would set the tone for the rest of the night.\u00a0 From there the ever-reliable Sam \u2018The Glue\u2019 Sanderson would continue on his path as genuine chance for back-to-back \u2018Player of the Year\u2019 titles winning the second single (9-5).\u00a0 Young talents Patrick Douglas (9-6) and Edward Winter (9-3) then continued the winning trend for the Coro boy\u2019s giving them the unassailable 4-0 lead heading in to the doubles.\u00a0\u00a0 Trinity never laid down, with Waterman and Gale stretching Sanderson and Patrick Douglas to the limit in the top double.\u00a0 However, they just went down (6-7).\u00a0 Mascione and Burley then finished strongly for Coro with a (6-1) victory in the last double of the night.\u00a0 In the end, it was a bit of a reality check for the Trinity boy\u2019s, dropping their first match of the year, while, as was the case last week, the Coro juggernaut keeps marching on.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Seacliff 3-42 def. Seaside 3-38<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Seacliff hosted their name-sake counterparts in what was arguably the match of the round, and what a way it was for this match-up to get underway.\u00a0 In the first single, you would have been forgiven for thinking they were playing in perfect conditions, with Terry Karahalios and Anton Talladira playing some exhilarating tennis.\u00a0 After trading blows in what proved a genuine endurance event, it would be fan favourite Karahalios producing when it mattered, to sneak over the line (9-8). After that it was Seacliff rebounding strongly with Kristo Daminato (9-6) and Noah Koeroessy (9-2) getting the chocolates.\u00a0 Nikolai Dobrovolski would then tie it up and two each with a strong (9-6) win over future star Lachlan Brain.\u00a0 Tied up after the singles, it was clear this battle would go right down to the wire.\u00a0 Karahalios and Gashi put Seaside in the box seat with a (6-3) win in the first single.\u00a0 This ensured that the winner of the final double would take out the match-up, and when the final siren went it would be the class of Daminato and Brain sneaking over the line (7-6) to give the Seacliff fellas a win and breathe new life into their season.\u00a0 Seaside proved unlucky, and will be very keen to get back on the winners list in round 4.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Hahndorf 3-37 def. by Peake Gardens-Riverside 3-43<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Peake Gardens-Riverside took a road trip into the hills for this match-up, which took place at the picturesque Hahndorf tennis club.\u00a0 With the weather holding off, spectators were treated to yet another incredibly close match-up.\u00a0 In an interesting result, this match was a genuine illustration of momentum.\u00a0 It was Peake Gardens-Riverside crew mirroring Usain Bolt, getting out of the blocks at light-speed and winning the first three rubbers.\u00a0 Ben Cahill (9-3), William Taylor (9-6) and Pierce Hynes (9-6) were the catalysts for the strong start playing some exhilarating tennis in the tough conditions.\u00a0 In what would then almost be \u2018comeback of the century\u2019, Hahndorf flicked the switch beginning with Tomas Barry taking out the fourth single (9-6).\u00a0 Crawford and Pienaar then carried on Hahndorf\u2019s new \u2018wave of momentum\u2019 winning their top double in a nail-biter (7-6). Crawford-Sandison and Barry then made it the last three rubbers for Hahndorf, getting up (6-4) in the last double.\u00a0 However, Hahndorf would just fall short by 6 games, with \u2018The Slugs\u2019 getting it done away from home and finding themselves in the top 4.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Tea Tree Gully 6-48 def. Glenunga 0-16<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The final match of the Boy\u2019s round 3 Junior State League was a one-sided one.\u00a0 The Glenunga side travelled up to Tea Tree Gully, but it would prove a long night for them.\u00a0 Dale Nixon was all class, winning the top single against David Wang (9-1).\u00a0 The strength of Carroll (9-2), Gibson (9-3) and Lamchinniah (9-3) was too much for the Glenunga boy\u2019s to contain, with TTG taking a 4-0 lead after the completion of the singles rubbers.\u00a0 Nixon and Caroll were a great duo in the top double, continuing the TTG run over Glenunga\u2019s Wang and Catalano (6-3).\u00a0 Gibson and Lamchinniah then completed the TTG clean sweep and sending a warning signal to the rest of the competition.\u00a0 \u00a0Glenunga are left to lick their wounds, and will be keen to bounce back next week.\u00a0 They certainly have the talent in their list and will be looking to get into the winners circle.\u00a0 Tea Tree Gully on the other hand have started the season exceptionally, and are looking the most likely to stop Coromandel Valley in their bid for back-to-back flags.\u00a0 Unfortunately, we will have to wait until the round 7 \u2018Super Round\u2019 at Playford to see them do battle.<\/p>\n<p>&gt; <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/players\/results\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Full Results<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Phantom Tipster Round 3 Junior State League Results &#8211; 6\/7<\/strong><\/p>\n<h5>Round 4 Phantom Tipsters Tips<\/h5>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"312\"><strong>Boy\u2019s Tips<\/strong><\/td>\n<td width=\"312\"><strong>Girl\u2019s Tips<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"312\">Seaside<\/td>\n<td width=\"312\">Peake Gardens-Riverside<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"312\">Tea Tree Gully<\/td>\n<td width=\"312\">Seacliff<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"312\">Coromandel Valley<\/td>\n<td width=\"312\">Happy Valley<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"312\">Peake Gardens-Riverside<\/td>\n<td width=\"312\"><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Junior State League Girl\u2019s Round 3 Seacliff 6-48 def.
