{"id":13652,"date":"2017-10-18T16:51:40","date_gmt":"2017-10-18T06:21:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/?p=13652"},"modified":"2017-10-18T16:54:05","modified_gmt":"2017-10-18T06:24:05","slug":"rd-1-state-league-results","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/news\/2017\/10\/18\/rd-1-state-league-results","title":{"rendered":"Rd 1 State League Results"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tennis SA&#8217;s State League kicked off on Saturday the 14th of October with the Men\u2019s &amp; Women\u2019s team\u2019s arriving in their team colours ready to compete for their club to get the first points on the board for the season.<\/p>\n<p>2016\/17 Champions Glenlea were beaten by a strong Collingrove team four rubbers to two. The match of the day was the number three single, where Colingrove\u2019s Simon Bates overcame Stefan Bianchet in three sets after taking out a tense third set 7-5.<\/p>\n<p>Kingswood got their season off to a strong start when they snuck past Trinity Gardens by eight games after rubbers and sets were all tied up. Josh Laka was Kingswood\u2019s key player on the day with a strong two set win over Andrew Tavella at second single.<\/p>\n<p>Tea Tree Gully made a statement to start off the season with a dominant win over Broadview. Tea Tree Gully\u2019s Lawrence Bataljin started strongly with a straight sets win over Martin Richards at top single. Both Tea Tree Gully\u2019s doubles pairings were able to hold off Broadview winning a rubber for the day taking both doubles in a third set.<\/p>\n<p>In the battle of two young clubs, The Drive came out on top of Seaside five rubbers to one. The Drive\u2019s Stefan Norodom defeated Brock Meuris at top single with Norodom taking it out in two sets to get The Drive off to a strong start. David Abfalter and James Whisson got Seaside\u2019s only rubber in the doubles when they beat Jonathan Norodom and Saif Ali in three sets.<\/p>\n<p>In the women\u2019s competition State League newcomer Flagstaff Hill came up against Goodwood in round 1. Goodwood\u2019s number one Tayla Whitehouse got her team off to a good start with a 6-1 7-5 win over Charlotte Kempenaers-Pocz. Goodwood kept momentum to win five rubbers to one from that point on.<\/p>\n<p>Kingswood were able to hold off Trinity Gardens with a four rubber to two win getting their season off to a very good start. The match of the day was between Trinity\u2019s number three Stefana Petrov and Kingswood\u2019s Tiana Glazbrook who fought out a tight three set match with Glazbrook prevailing.<\/p>\n<p>In a replay of last year\u2019s State League final, The Drive drew against Seaside at three rubbers, seven sets and sixty-eight games all. Seaside\u2019s Selina Turulja was in strong form with a three set win over Melanie Clayton.
