The 2017\/18 Junior State League commences this Friday 13 October. The competition comprises eight boy\u2019s teams and six girl\u2019s teams. It is fantastic for many clubs to be able to host and watch the best juniors in the state do battle in a weekly competition.<\/p>\n
This year the single\u2019s format has been extended to a first to 9 game set (TB at 8 all), with the doubles remaining a first to 6 game set. In addition, there will be three \u2018Super Rounds\u2019 for the Boy\u2019s and the Girl\u2019s competition, including a combined \u2018Super Round\u2019 at the brand new Playford Tennis Centre facility as part of TennisFest on November 17, which will be fantastic.<\/p>\n
In the Boy\u2019s competition it will be the mighty Coromandel Valley Tennis Club looking to defend their title. With the vast majority suggesting they are strong favourites this season, there will be pressure on the reigning champs, but they look to have depth all the way through, and certainly have the talent to go all the way again.<\/p>\n
As a result, the Phantom Tipster is predicting the Coromandel Valley Tennis Club, containing boy\u2019s 2016\/17 \u2018Player of The Year\u2019 Sam Sanderson, to take it out. However, they will have some strong competition with many teams boasting an array of talent that, on their day, could beat anyone, including the reigning premiers.<\/p>\n
The Girl\u2019s competition looks remarkably even across the board. The Goodwood Saints will be defending their title in 17\/18, after a very strong showing in the decider last year.\u00a0 They have very strong players all the way through their list. Having said that, the Phantom Tipster is suggesting they will not have it all their own way this year. Peake Gardens-Riverside have some serious talent, with Seacliff like they could also beat anyone on their day.<\/p>\n
The Phantom Tipster is predicting that Happy Valley will go one step further this season and take out the final. With a similar list to the previous season you should see a large improvement in strength and depth of this team. The Phantom Tipster is also predicting to see Juliette Robinson from Hahndorf to take out the \u2018Player Of The Year\u2019.<\/p>\n
Tennis SA CEO, Steve Baldas, is also looking forward to the upcoming Junior State League season. \u201cIt\u2019s great to see the best Junior tennis players in South Australia competing against each other in a weekly competition.
