{"id":1293,"date":"2011-02-04T10:30:28","date_gmt":"2011-02-04T01:00:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/?p=1293"},"modified":"2011-02-04T10:30:28","modified_gmt":"2011-02-04T01:00:28","slug":"roger-rasheed-sporting-fund","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/news\/2011\/02\/04\/roger-rasheed-sporting-fund","title":{"rendered":"Roger Rasheed Sporting Fund launched today"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/?attachment_id=1294\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1294\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/files\/2011\/02\/rrsf_logo-370x306.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"370\" height=\"306\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Former tennis professional and current professional coach and media commentator Roger Rasheed today\u00a0 launched a new charity, the Roger Rasheed Sporting Fund; and he\u2019s got some big name support behind him.<\/p>\n<p>Golf star Greg Norman has signed on as Patron of the Roger Rasheed Sporting Fund, whilst the Fund will operate with the support of the very successful<\/p>\n<p>The Roger Rasheed Sporting Fund, with the catchcry &#8220;all kids can play&#8221; aims to enrich children\u2019s lives through sport and its founder Roger Rasheed is excited about the venture.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSport has been a big influence in my life and the lives of so many people I know and for that I feel very lucky and I now want to share that experience with others,\u201d said Rasheed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSport can play a significant role in the development of young people \u2013 it promotes a healthy, active lifestyle and develops personal characteristics vital to successful and fulfilling lives, including teamwork, discipline, respect, work ethic and mateship.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are so many children who, due to lack of resources, do not have the opportunity to participate in sport and we\u201fd like to help some of those children through this Fund.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat\u201fs more, through the Fund we will identify some individuals for whom we hope we can provide mentoring to make a difference in their lives,\u201d Rasheed said.<\/p>\n<p>The Fund has already attracted the support of some big names including confirmed Ambassadors Bruce McAvaney, Chris Dittmar, Rachael Sporn, Warren Tredrea, Megan Jones, Wally Masur, Natalie von Bertouch, Tyson Edwards and Travis Dodd.<\/p>\n<p>World sporting great Greg Norman said he was very happy to lend his support.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am proud to be the Patron of the Roger Rasheed Sporting Fund\u201d, said Norman. \u201cWhen Roger spoke with me about what he was hoping to achieve through the establishment of the Roger Rasheed Sporting Fund I had no hesitation in putting my name to the cause.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Roger Rasheed Sporting Fund aims to \u201eEnrich Children\u2019s Lives Through Sport\u201f.
