{"id":12774,"date":"2017-05-09T15:44:49","date_gmt":"2017-05-09T06:14:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/?p=12774"},"modified":"2017-05-09T15:45:36","modified_gmt":"2017-05-09T06:15:36","slug":"over-2300-south-australian-students-have-received-brand-new-tennis-racquets-thanks-to-anz","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/news\/2017\/05\/09\/over-2300-south-australian-students-have-received-brand-new-tennis-racquets-thanks-to-anz","title":{"rendered":"Over 2300 SA students receive new tennis racquets thanks to ANZ"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>2307 reception students in South Australia have received brand new tennis racquets, thanks to ANZ and Tennis Australia\u2019s School Partnership Program.<\/p>\n<p>ANZ\u2019s support of the ANZ Tennis Hot Shots program has ensured students in their first year of school at a Tennis Australia partner school receive a brand new tennis racquet, with an astonishing <strong>80,000<\/strong> in Australian taking up the opportunity since January 2015.<\/p>\n<p>There are currently more than <strong>2000 <\/strong>schools Australia wide who participate in the program as part of their health and physical education curriculum.<\/p>\n<p>There are currently 182 Tennis Australia partner primary schools in South Australia.<\/p>\n<p>Nationwide more than <strong>213,883<\/strong> children played ANZ Tennis Hot Shots in 2015\/16, making the program one of Australia\u2019s most popular sport participation programs.<\/p>\n<p>ANZ Tennis Hot Shots ambassador <strong>Alicia Molik<\/strong> is delighted to see the opportunities the program offers to young children around Australia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cANZ has helped us deliver 80,000 racquets to children around the country and you can\u2019t wipe the smiles off the kids\u2019 faces,\u201d Molik said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s fantastic to see so many tennis racquets in the hands of young children, which really encourages them to participate in physical activity while doing something that is fun.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe School Partnership Program is accessible to any primary school in Australia and gives kids the opportunity to play tennis as part of their curriculum. Tennis is a fantastic sport for kids \u2013 and their families \u2013 to play as part of an active and healthy lifestyle.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tennis Australia CEO <strong>Craig Tiley <\/strong>firmly believes sports like tennis are vital to children\u2019s health and wellbeing at a young age.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSport has, and continues to play, a very significant role in the lives of all Australian families and communities,\u201d Tiley said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSchools provide great opportunities for children to participate in sports, which in turn develops the physical, social and emotional skills which are critical to a child\u2019s development.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt Tennis Australia, we are very proud to support Australian schools and teachers in the delivery of sustainable health and physical education programs.
