Edward Winter<\/strong> (Glenelg, SA) is the 12-and-under Australian Grasscourt champion for 2017, after taking out the boys\u2019 title in Berri today.<\/p>\n

South Australia\u2019s No.1 12-year-old defeated fellow South Australian Doni Gashi<\/strong> 6-2 6-1 to win the tournament, played in Berri for the first time this week.<\/p>\n

\u201cI felt great, I was playing really well today. All credit to Doni, he played well but I pulled out with the win today,\u201d Winter said after his match.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was tough {playing against Doni], it was great sportsmanship all round,\u201d Winter added.<\/p>\n

In other singles finals action, [4] Tai Sach<\/strong> (Qld) defeated [3] Cooper White<\/strong> (Vic) 6-2 3-6 6-1 to win the
\n14-and-under boys\u2019 championship.<\/p>\n

On the girls\u2019 side, top seed Hana Sonton <\/strong>(Qld) overcame [2] Catherine Auila <\/strong>(NSW) 6-2 6-1 to win the 12-and-under girls\u2019 championship and [1] Tina Smith<\/strong> (Qld) defeated [5] Charlotte Kempenaers-Pocz<\/strong> (SA) 3-6 7-5 6-3 to win the 14-and-under girls\u2019 championship.<\/p>\n

South Australians were also dominant in the doubles events. Results were as follows:<\/p>\n

The finals were a fitting climax to a tournament that has hosted 128 players from around Australia over the past week, giving all the opportunity to play for national titles and Australian ranking points.<\/p>\n
