The National Foundation Cup and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tsac2017.org.au\/\" target=\"_blank\">Tennis Seniors Teams Carnival and Individual Championships <\/a>are being hosted by the state for the first time, with a total of 18 events to be held during the four weeks.<\/p>\n<p>The Tennis Seniors Teams Carnival and Individual Championships will be held at various venues across Adelaide from 8-20 January. The Tennis Seniors Teams Carnival will see 110 teams competing. More than 1,000 visitors are expected to visit the state during the event \u2013 a 25 per cent increase on last year\u2019s Teams Carnival held in Shepparton, Victoria. Organisers are primed for a big fortnight of tennis for players aged 35-years young and over.<\/p>\n<p>The National Foundation Cup will be held at West Lakes Tennis Club from the 8-13 January and see the top four 13\/u boys and girls from regional areas in every state competing in a week long teams event. South Australia has assembled a strong line up based on a development pathway for regional athletes that culminates in selections for the National Foundation Cup.<\/p>\n<p>Hosting these events give additional playing opportunities to players of all ages and abilities throughout the Be Active Challenge period.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese two National events further highlight the objective of the Be Active Challenge to provide events for players of all abilities, ages and background,\u201d Tennis SA CEO<strong> Steven Baldas<\/strong> said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe January gives us the opportunity to highlight tennis as truly accessible and enjoyable sport for all South Australians and we encourage people to pick up a racquet whether it be in a structured competition, tournament or just a casual hit with friends,\u201d Baldas added.<\/p>\n<p>Eighteen Be Active Challenge events are to be held from 27 December through to the finals of the Strathalbyn Australian Money Tournament on 23 January.
