{"id":11663,"date":"2016-11-16T09:11:17","date_gmt":"2016-11-15T22:41:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/?p=11663"},"modified":"2016-11-16T10:00:30","modified_gmt":"2016-11-15T23:30:30","slug":"australian-pro-tour-set-to-return-to-clare-valley-in-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/news\/2016\/11\/16\/australian-pro-tour-set-to-return-to-clare-valley-in-2017","title":{"rendered":"Australian Pro Tour set to return to Clare Valley in 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>International tennis is set to return to the Clare Valley in 2017 with the announcement today that Clare Tennis Club will host <strong>the Australian Pro Tour<\/strong> from 25 February \u2013 5 March.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Clare Valley Tennis International<\/strong>, an International Tennis Federation (ITF) women\u2019s tournament, is sure to attract a strong field of Australian and international players to compete for $US 25,000 in prize money.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTennis Australia is glad to see the <strong>Australian Pro Tour<\/strong> returning to the Clare Valley region. This event will form part of the 2017 Australian Pro Tour, providing an opportunity for players to earn not only prize money but also crucial world ranking points,\u201d Australian Pro Tour Manager Fiona Luscombe said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAustralians have had great success on the Australian Pro Tour in the past, with <strong>Alicia Molik <\/strong>(SA) and<strong> Casey Dellacqua <\/strong>(WA) both having used these events as stepping stones in their careers,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Clare &amp; Gilbert Valleys Council Mayor,<\/strong> <strong>Allan Aughey OAM,<\/strong> is glad to welcome the event back to the region.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Clare &amp; Gilbert Valleys Council, along with the Clare Tennis Club, is delighted to be supporting and hosting the Clare Valley Tennis International again in 2017. This will be the second tournament we\u2019ve hosted of this level and it provides us with a fantastic opportunity to showcase our local area on an international stage,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe tournament also offers a great chance for locals to watch the world\u2019s up-and-coming players close to home and we look forward to welcoming both them and tournament staff to the Clare Valley.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile we are in the planning phase for the event we would strongly encourage local businesses to put forward their interest in being a sponsor for the tournament,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The Clare Valley Tennis International will form a major part of South Australia\u2019s Pro Tour calendar, set to take place from January to March 2017.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTennis SA is thrilled with the inclusion of the Clare Valley Tennis International to the Australian Pro Tour calendar for 2017,\u201d said <strong>Tennis SA CEO Steven Baldas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe 2015 event was a spectacular showcase of the sport and we are thoroughly looking forward to working with the team at Clare Tennis Club to put together another fantastic event in 2017,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The player field for the Clare Valley Tennis International will be announced in February 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The Clare Valley Tennis International is part of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/tournaments\/pro-tournaments\/australian-pro-tour\/calendar\" target=\"_blank\">2017 Australian Pro Tour<\/a>, a series of professional tennis events that bridge junior tournaments and the WTA Tour, providing an opportunity for players to earn their first world ranking points.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>International tennis is set to return to the Clare Valley in 2017 with the announcement today that Clare Tennis Club will host the Australian Pro Tour from 25 February \u2013 5 March.
