{"id":11483,"date":"2016-10-25T13:52:34","date_gmt":"2016-10-25T03:22:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/?p=11483"},"modified":"2016-10-25T13:53:23","modified_gmt":"2016-10-25T03:23:23","slug":"junior-state-league-rd-2-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/news\/2016\/10\/25\/junior-state-league-rd-2-report","title":{"rendered":"Junior State League Rd 2 Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Junior State League \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/sa\/players\/results\" target=\"_blank\">Results<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On Friday 21 October saw the 2nd round of the Junior State League competition with Boy\u2019s and Girl\u2019s Rounds returning to home venues. Teams competed hard to try and earn as many points possible to separate themselves from the competition on the premiership ladder.<\/p>\n<p>Goodwood Girls kept the ball rolling defeating Seaside for their first loss of the year with a six rubbers to zero win for the second week in a row. Goodwood\u2019s Nicola Pavlic overcame Caitlin Wyatt at number three singles 6-3. This was followed by a strong win from Goodwood\u2019s Erica Williams against Seaside\u2019s Georgia Plunkett 6-1 cementing the match with four rubbers, Goodwood then went on to win both doubles convincingly.<\/p>\n<p>Trinity and Beaumont played the tightest match of the round for the Girl\u2019s coming down to games in a nail biter. Hayley Waterman held off Beaumont\u2019s Breanna Carroll to give Trinity some needed games with a 6-1 win, with the singles split at two all it came down to the doubles. Beaumont\u2019s Rhita Zhiltsova and Juliette Robinson had a strong win in the top doubles winning 6-3 against Trinity\u2019s Olivia Salvatore and Yasmin Bennett but it wasn\u2019t enough with Beaumont losing the second doubles and going down to Trinity by four games.<\/p>\n<p>Happy Valley had a strong five rubbers to one win over Hahndorf. Heidi Evens set the tone for the night with a 7-5 win over Kara Tscharke at number one single and from there Happy Valley continued to dominate with strong performances from Ebony Harper and Chenoa Norris at three and four.<\/p>\n<p>In the Boy\u2019s competition Coromandel Valley had a six rubber to none win over Seaside showing why they look to be final contenders, Coromandel\u2019s Luke Mascione defeated Seaside\u2019s Lachlan Brain in a nail biter winning 7-6 while Coromandel\u2019s Nick Russell also had a tough win against Seaside\u2019s Cooper Lambert 7-5 proving to be the difference in the outcome of the match.<\/p>\n<p>Goodwood had a five rubbers to one win over Stirling, Goodwood&#8217;s number three Terry Karahalios set the scene winning the third rubber for the team defeating Stirling\u2019s Noah Phillips 6-2. Goodwood had the match under wrap when they won the 4th rubber of the match but this didn\u2019t stop Stirling\u2019s Justin Tscharke and Jasper Benson pulling off a well contested doubles match against Goodwood\u2019s Josh Laka and Stefan Bianchet 7-6.<\/p>\n<p>Glenunga got on the board with their first win of the season with five rubbers to one with number one player David Wang having an impressive win over Peake Gardens opponent Alex Haskell 6-2. Glenunga locked in the win when they won the fourth rubber in a tight contested match with Glenunga\u2019s Michael Pace defeating Peak Gardens Kristo Daminato 7-5. The win resulted in Glenunga moving up the ladder winning an important 9 points.<\/p>\n<p>For the second week in row the best match of round featured Trinity Gardens again who were able to hold off a determined Tea Tree Gully only by four games after the rubbers were tied at three all.<\/p>\n<p>Tea Tree Gully\u2019s Dale Nixon was in great form with a dominant win over Trinity\u2019s number one Jared Waterman 6-0. Trinty\u2019s Zac Nurton pulled back the games in the fourth rubber bringing it to two sets a piece winning 6-0 against Tea Tree Gully\u2019s Connor Gibson.
