Junior Development Series
Welcome to the 2020 Gold Coast Region Junior Development Series!
The Junior Development Series (JDS) is a tournament circuit specifically designed for players of a beginner to intermediate level. Each tournament allows players to experience crucial competitive match play and skill development opportunities. The Gold Coast JDS Circuit also includes a Green Ball Challenge which utilises a 75% compression ball to maximise rally length, court craft, swing patterns and increase fun.
EVENTS & AGE ELIBILITY
10/U – Green Ball – Boys Singles & Doubles, Girls Singles & Doubles- Must be 10 years as at month of tournament
11/U – Yellow Ball – Boys Singles & Doubles, Girls Singles & Doubles- Must be 11 years as at 31/12/2020
13/U – Yellow Ball – Boys Singles & Doubles, Girls Singles & Doubles- Must be 13 years as at 31/12/2020
15/U – Yellow Ball – Boys Singles & Doubles, Girls Singles & Doubles- Must be 15 years as at 31/12/2020
16+ Open – Mens Singles & Ladies Singles – Must be turning at least 16 years, or turning 16 during 2020
Day 1 – Singles Matches Only – Round Robin Stages – Players will play a minimum of three (3) sets and maximum of five (5) sets.
Day 2 – Singles Playoff Matches & All Doubles Matches
Round-Robin Singles & All Doubles Matches: One (1) set, first to six (6) games, match tie-break at five (5) games all*.
In pools of three, all matches will be first to nine (9) games, with a match tie-break at eight (8) games all*.
Singles Play-Offs (Semi-Finals & Finals Only): Best of two (2) tiebreak sets, with a tie-break to be played at six (6) games all. A ten (10) point super tiebreak to determine the winner of the match will be played at one (1) set all.
*Tie-breaks, unless otherwise directed, will be first to seven (7) points, with a 2 point deficit.
Each series incorporates a circuit long Point Race, acting as the foundation used to determine the selection of the Gold Coast Regional Team for season ending events.
The Green Ball Challenge (10/U) will culminate with the Bolt to Brisbane in November, with the top four (4) girls and top four (4) boys earning a spot on TEAM GC to compete against Brisbane Metro, Sunshine Coast and South Region at the State Tennis Centre in Brisbane.
The Yellow Ball JDS Events will culminate at the QLD JDS State Finals in October, with the top (2) girls and top (2) boys from each of the 11/U, 13/U, 15/U and 17/U age groups earning a position on TEAM GC to compete at the Rockhampton Regional Tennis Centre in Rockhampton.
CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
The Entry Fee for 2020 Gold Coast Region JDS Events is $40.00 (includes entry into Singles & Doubles).
Players may only enter one (1) singles event and one (1) doubles event, and both must be in the same age group to receive all points earned.
If a player wishes to play up an age group in the doubles event, their points will not transfer down.
Players may nominate a doubles partner upon online entry. There will also be a doubles event sign-on located at the Tournament Desk on the first Sunday of play.

ENTRIES OPEN four (4) weeks before the tournament starts.
ENTRIES CLOSE seven (7) days before the tournament starts.
Acceptance of LATE ENTRIES is at the discretion of the tournament coordinator, and if successful will incur a $10 late fee.
