What is a point race?

Players who participate in a Green Ball Challenge or Junior Development Series tournament, within the Gold Coast Region, within the same calendar year will earn and accumulate points.

The point race for Green Ball players is called the ‘Bolt to Brisbane’, as each respective series will culminate in an invitational finals event to be held in Brisbane on November 15th.   For Yellow Ball JDS players the point race is called the ‘Road to Rocky’ as the series comes to a head in the JDS State Finals in Rockhampton, held on October 17th & 18th.

Selection Criteria

To be considered to represent team Gold Coast each player must have participated in a minimum of four (4) tournaments within their respective circuit, regardless of final standings,

For Green Ball players, the top 4 girl and 4 boy point scorers will qualify for a position on Team Gold Coast.

For Yellow Ball JDS players the top 2 girl & 2 boy point scorers, from each age group (11/U, 13/U, 15/U & 17/U) will qualify for a position on Team Gold Coast.

The team will have their travel and accommodation organised by Tennis Queensland. It is a requirement to stay with the rest of the team at the organised accommodation and participate in group meals and activities.  Parents are welcome to attend the Rockhampton trip as well but will be required to book and pay for their own travel and accommodation.

Player Eligibility

Even if a player lives outside the Gold Coast Region, they may still participate and earn points in our each of our tournament circuits.  Selection onto each of the State Finals teams will definitely still be valid, given the satisfaction of the minimum participation requirement of four (4) tournaments in their respective circuit.
