Ocean Grove Tennis Club Inc

Safeguarding Children

The Ocean Grove Tennis Club seeks to ensure that all children involved with the club are protected from behaviour or activities that could be deemed inappropriate or forms of abuse.

The club has taken active steps to ensure we are meeting all standards provided by Tennis Australia and relevant Child Safe Legislation. A significant part of this commitment is the requirement for all adults (aged 18 years and older) who are engaged in child related activities with the Club must obtain a Working With Children Check (WWCC) (Volunteer, Victoria). This is regardless of whether your own child is engaged in the activity.

Child related activities include: Coaching, umpiring, chaperoning (including transport/driving), and communicating (email, phone, social media, teamapp) with children aged under 18 years of age.

Additionally, all nominated representatives of the Junior Committee and Selectors, plus nominated representatives of the Club Executive Committee must obtain and maintain a WWCC.

The process of obtaining a card is straightforward. If you are applying for a Volunteer card, this is free of charge.

You can apply online or you can apply at your local post office.

Whether you are applying for a new card, or if you already hold a valid WWCC, you need to list the Ocean Grove Tennis Club as the place where you perform child related activities.

This can be done through the website :
Postal number and street PO BOX 610
State VIC
Postcode 3226

The club will be advised that you have registered the Club, but we also require you to email a copy of your card to: [email protected]

Alternatively, we will ask you to bring a copy of this card to be stored on file at the Club.

IMPORTANT: Until a representative of the Executive or Junior Committee sight this card, you will be unable to perform the specific “child related activity”.

If you have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Club Secretary on [email protected]
