{"id":9061,"date":"2026-04-02T11:31:35","date_gmt":"2026-04-02T02:01:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/nt\/?p=9061"},"modified":"2026-04-02T12:28:52","modified_gmt":"2026-04-02T02:58:52","slug":"gove-peninsula-tennis-club-agm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/nt\/news\/2026\/04\/02\/gove-peninsula-tennis-club-agm","title":{"rendered":"Gove Peninsula Tennis Club AGM"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tennis NT CEO Tania Tandora and Head of Tennis Sam Giess were happy to be back in Nhulunbuy again, this time to attend the Gove Peninsula Tennis Club&#8217;s Annual General Meeting (AGM).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The 3-court club continues it&#8217;s reign as the &#8220;biggest smallest club in Australia&#8221; boasting many achievements driven by the club&#8217;s committee, community, and club President Nicky Mayer.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Club reporting from the 2025 calendar year:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Membership: 300 members which is approx 10% of the town&#8217;s population.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Junior Coaching Participants: 130 kids, 45% female \/ 55% male.\u00a0<br \/>Cardio Tennis: mammoth 108 individuals with a 65% female 35% male.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Social Tennis: 40 players.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Pickleball: 60 players\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Club programs and highlights:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Racquets and Red Dust:<\/strong> club President Nicky Mayer and the Tennis NT team travelled to Dhalingbuy to train youth workers based in surrounding homelands in delivering tennis. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/nt\/news\/2025\/04\/29\/racquets-and-red-dust-nhulunbuy\">Read more<\/a>&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p><strong>National Indigenous Tennis Carnival<\/strong>:\u00a0 the trip to Dhalingbuy led to six kids being selected from communities across Dhalingbuy, GanGan and Wurrawuy to join with town-kids to create the first team from East Arnhem to compete at the National Indigenous Tennis Carnival. That East Arnhem team won the Hot Shots (red ball) competition; team supervisor Djamika won the Roger Cawley Supervisors Award; and Manimba from Gan Gan was selected to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/nt\/news\/2026\/01\/27\/our-ao-2026-nt-ballkids-return\">First Nations Ballkid program<\/a> at the Australian Open 2026 &#8211; WOW! <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/nt\/news\/2025\/08\/12\/earn-arnhem-team-win-the-hot-shots-comp-at-nitc\">Read more&#8230;.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Lead2Lead<\/strong>: 2 girls from the club graduated from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/nt\/news\/2025\/03\/31\/learn2lead\">Learn2Lead program<\/a>.
