{"id":5995,"date":"2015-03-30T10:34:46","date_gmt":"2015-03-30T01:04:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/nt\/?p=5995"},"modified":"2015-03-30T10:34:46","modified_gmt":"2015-03-30T01:04:46","slug":"5995","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/nt\/news\/2015\/03\/30\/5995","title":{"rendered":"Barra&#8217;s victorious in JTL Grand Final"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Grand Final of the <span style=\"color: #0091d2\"><strong><em>Junior Tennis League<\/em><\/strong><\/span> was looming to be a great encounter between the Buffalo\u2019s, who had been on top of the ladder for the duration of the minor rounds and the Barra\u2019s, who had sat at the bottom for most of the competition.<\/p>\n<p>The Barra\u2019s got an early lead in the opening round singles with <span style=\"color: #0091d2\">Liam Franklin<\/span> and <span style=\"color: #0091d2\">Rebecca Rayner<\/span> claiming their matches in straight sets, while the other two singles were drawn at one set all. \u00a0\u00a0The Boy\u2019s and Girl\u2019s doubles were also undecided with each team winning one set. Going into the mixed doubles the Buffalo\u2019s needed to win both matches in straight sets for a count back.\u00a0 However the Barra\u2019s could\u00a0taste the victory, claimed both matches with <span style=\"color: #0091d2\">Franklin<\/span> and <span style=\"color: #0091d2\">Rayner<\/span> combining to defeat <span style=\"color: #e10073\">Peter Politis<\/span> and <span style=\"color: #e10073\">Rosie Henderson<\/span> 4-1 4-1 while <span style=\"color: #0091d2\">Nicholas Carmichael<\/span> and <span style=\"color: #0091d2\">Grace Henderson<\/span> defeated <span style=\"color: #e10073\">Callum Saunders<\/span> and <span style=\"color: #e10073\">Stephanie Rayner<\/span> 4-3 4-1 for a four rubbers to nil victory and the first Junior Tennis League Premiership.<\/p>\n<h5><em><strong><span style=\"color: #0091d2\">BARRA&#8217;S<\/span> defeated <span style=\"color: #e10073\">BUFFALO&#8217;S<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/h5>\n<p><em><strong>4-12-55 (4 drawn) 0-4-32<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0091d2\">Liam Franklin<\/span> d Oscar Ferdinands 4-0 3-0 ret<br \/>\nNicholas Carmichael drew Callum Saunders 1-4 4-2<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #0091d2\">Rebecca Rayner<\/span> d Rosie Henderson 4-1 4-3<br \/>\nGrace Henderson drew Stephanie Rayner 4-2 1-4<br \/>\nFranklin\/Carmichael drew Politis\/Saunders 4-1 3-4<br \/>\nR.Rayner\/G.Henderson drew R.Henderson\/S.Rayner 3-4 4-1<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #0091d2\">Franklin\/R.Rayner<\/span> d Politis\/R.Henderson 4-1 4-1<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #0091d2\">Carmichael\/G.Henderson<\/span> d Saudners\/S.Rayner 4-3 4-1<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Third and Fourth play-off was a closely contested encounter between the Croc\u2019s and the Frillie\u2019s.\u00a0 The Croc\u2019s had the early lead after the singles with <span style=\"color: #d7d700\">Kenneth Prete<\/span> and <span style=\"color: #d7d700\">Eilis Kruger<\/span> winning their respective singles. Frillie\u2019s number 2, <span style=\"color: #fac300\">Coen Hutt<\/span> keep them within reach with his 4-0 4-2 win over <span style=\"color: #d7d700\">Ashley Setterfield<\/span>. <span style=\"color: #fac300\">Hutt<\/span> then teamed with <span style=\"color: #fac300\">Kyle O\u2019Donoghue-Ellis<\/span> to take the Boy\u2019s doubles and level the score. Going into the mixed doubles the score was level at 2 rubbers all; either side had the chance to win. <span style=\"color: #fac300\">Hutt<\/span> claimed his third win of the evening, teaming with <span style=\"color: #fac300\">Serena Adams<\/span> for a 4-1 4-0 win over <span style=\"color: #d7d700\">Setterfield<\/span> and <span style=\"color: #d7d700\">Lauren Riggall<\/span>. However, <span style=\"color: #d7d700\">Prete<\/span> and <span style=\"color: #d7d700\">Kruger<\/span> claimed the other mixed for the Croc\u2019s and levelling the score a three rubbers all.
