{"id":5026,"date":"2014-01-10T11:52:34","date_gmt":"2014-01-10T02:22:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/nt\/?p=5026"},"modified":"2014-01-10T11:52:34","modified_gmt":"2014-01-10T02:22:34","slug":"jemma-blitzs-the-competition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/nt\/news\/2014\/01\/10\/jemma-blitzs-the-competition","title":{"rendered":"Jemma Blitz&#8217;s the Competition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tennis Palmerston up and coming junior, Jemma Gossow was the highest points earner nationally, based on the player leader board on the <a href=\"http:\/\/aoblitz.com.au\/players\" target=\"_blank\"><strong><em>AO Blitz website<\/em> <\/strong><\/a>as at 31 December 2013.<\/p>\n<p>9-year-old Gossow collected an impressive 1,291,005 points in a variety of Challenges to finish atop of the leader board, some 49,000 points ahead of second place. For her efforts she has won two tickets each to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ausopen.com\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\"><em><strong>Australia Open 2014<\/strong> <\/em><\/a>Men&#8217;s and Women&#8217;s final, with accommodation and flights presented by Steggles.<\/p>\n<p>Gossow&#8217;s biggest achievement was raising over $2,200 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation and Prostate Foundation Australia for getting her family and friends to sponsor the waxing of her father&#8217;s hairy legs. Overall Gossow raised an incredible $6,290, the second highest individual fundraiser in the country and the youngest fundraiser overall.<\/p>\n<p>Tennis Palmerston coaches Sam Giess and Daniel Parker (pictured) also got behind Jemma&#8217;s fundraising, with both coaches committing to shaving their heads at $2,000 and also their legs at $3,000. Needless to say both coaches will be applying the sunscreen a little bit more this term.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;I have loved every bit of the AO Blitz, the challenges were awesome and some were hard&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Jemma&#8217;s local club, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/tennispalmerston\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em><strong>Tennis Palmerston<\/strong> <\/em><\/a>also finished atop of the standings in the NT Club with the most points; they finished 6<sup>th<\/sup> National and just edged out the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/alicesprings\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em><strong>Alice Springs Tennis Association<\/strong> <\/em><\/a>who finished in 7<sup>th<\/sup> position.<\/p>\n<p>Top NT\u00a0finishers nationally in the AO Blitz:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0091d2\"><em><strong>Top Players<\/strong><\/em><\/span><br \/>\n1.
