Gardens Tennis played host to two matches in Round 5 of the People’s Choice Metro League<\/em><\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Mark Pead and Darrell Halim (GT2) accounted for the AWOF pairing of Des McLellan and Maddy Murray in the #1 doubles 6-2 6-2. McLellan fought back in the #1 singles\u00a0extending Halim to the match tie-breaker, however it was Halim who lasted the distance, winning 7-6 2-6 10-5.<\/p>\n

Longest match of the round goes to the #1 doubles between Ben Scott and Steve Lewis-Driver (GT1) and Nicholas Munro and Ben Proctor (TP2). Tennis Palmerston 2 snuck away with the first set in a tie-break before Gardens Tennis 1 came back in the second 6-3. It was all down to the match tie-break and who could hold their nerve, in the end it was Munro and Proctor who came away with the good and the match 7-6 3-6 10-2.<\/p>\n

After Round 5 Gardens Tennis 1\u00a0has a slight lead over Gardens Tennis 2 on the People’s Choice Metro League<\/span> <\/strong><\/a>ladder<\/em> with 48 points to 44 points.<\/p>\n

Michael Shepheard<\/strong> (GT1) has taken the lead in the People’s Choice Metro League<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/a> Player of the Year<\/em> over Daniel Parker and David Bridges who are still within striking range of the top spot.<\/p>\n
