{"id":3816,"date":"2012-08-27T15:24:30","date_gmt":"2012-08-27T05:54:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/nt\/?p=3816"},"modified":"2012-08-27T15:24:30","modified_gmt":"2012-08-27T05:54:30","slug":"peoples-choice-metro-league-round-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/nt\/news\/2012\/08\/27\/peoples-choice-metro-league-round-4","title":{"rendered":"People&#8217;s Choice Metro League &#8211; Round 4"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Round 4 of the <span style=\"color: #0091d2\"><em><strong>People&#8217;s Choice Metro League<\/strong><\/em><\/span> saw convincing wins to DTC Sports 2 and Gardens Tennis.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DTC SPORTS 2 v DTC SPORTS 1<\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #fac300\"><strong>People&#8217;s Choice Metro League<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>In the local derby, DTC Sports 2 accounted for DTC Sports 1 with a resounding 7 Rubbers to 2 win.<br \/>\n2012 NT Open Champion, Ryan Palfrey gave DTC1 a glimmer of hope with a 6-3 6-2 defeat over rival Nicko Munro. However, it was Munro who had the last laugh when he teamed with Kacy Brennan to secure a closely fought doubles win over Palfrey and Michael Shepheard 7-6 7-5. Jamie Stefanato and Chris Wevill also secured a DTC1 victory with a 6-3 6-4 win over the Giess Brothers.<br \/>\nHowever it was DTC2 that reigned supreme, with singles wins to Brennan, Matt Giess, Sam Giess, Tristan King and Tenille Waters to secure a convincing victory.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #d7d700\"><strong>People&#8217;s Choice Reserve League<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>In one of the closest matches yet, DTC Sports 1 scrapped through to defeated DTC Sports 2, with 3 Rubbers all and 7 Sets all it was a count-back with 67 Games to 60 in favour of DTC Sports 1.<br \/>\nDTC2 secured both doubles win; Arran Stephens and Nicholas Carmichael defeating Lauren Riggall and Rosie Henderson 4-6 7-6 10-2 and Peter Politis and Cooper King defeating Jaimee Murphy and Ronin Shima 6-3 6-3. However, it was DTC1 who stormed home with convincing singles wins to Riggall, Henderson and Shima.<\/p>\n<p><strong>GARDENS TENNIS v TENNIS PALMERSTON<\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #fac300\"><strong>People&#8217;s Choice Metro League<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>In the top of the table clash, Gardens was too strong for an understrength Palmy. Gardens now holds prime position on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/nt\/competitions\/metro-league\"><strong>People&#8217;s Choice Metro League Premiership<\/strong> <\/a>with 2 weeks remaining in the minor rounds.<br \/>\nIan Redmond and Dave Bridges got the home team off to a great start, accounting for Des McLellan and\u00a0 Max Brown 6-2 6-3. However, Palmy drew level with Mark Pead and Rhys Janes securing a 6-2 7-6 win over Steve Lewis-Drive and Scott Boller. Any celebration was short lived for the visitors, with Gardens securing four of the six remaining singles Rubbers convincingly to secure the win.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #d7d700\"><strong>People&#8217;s Choice Reserve League<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>In contrast to the other Reserve match this round, Gardens Tennis dominated Tennis Palmerston to a 6 Rubbers to nil victory.<br \/>\nThe home team rushed through the singles matches, at the loss of just nine games. Tanya Gallon fought bravely for Palmy, just going down to Jacob Howden 1-6 6-7. Howden then paired with Darren Yuen to defeat Gallon and Riley Wauchope 6-1 6-2, while team mates Teyrnon Higginson and Liam Jong (GT) accounted for Valentina Floeck and Brodie Wauchope 6-0 6-3.<\/p>\n<p>Nicholas Munro (DTC2) holds a one set advantage at the top of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/nt\/competitions\/metro-league\/player-of-the-year\"><strong>People&#8217;s Choice Metro League Player of the Year<\/strong> <\/a>over Scott Boller (GT) and Andrew Hawke (GT).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/nt\/competitions\/metro-league\/results\">Latest Results <\/a>from Round 4 of the <span style=\"color: #0091d2\"><strong>People&#8217;s Choice Metro League<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Round 4 of the People&#8217;s Choice Metro League saw convincing wins to DTC Sports 2 and Gardens Tennis.
