{"id":2429,"date":"2011-08-16T11:47:20","date_gmt":"2011-08-16T02:17:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/nt\/?p=2429"},"modified":"2011-08-16T11:47:20","modified_gmt":"2011-08-16T02:17:20","slug":"metro-league-round-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/nt\/news\/2011\/08\/16\/metro-league-round-6","title":{"rendered":"Metro League &#8211; Round 6"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>DTC Sports have taken the home court advantage in Round 6 with a nail-biting 10 Rubbers to 8 win over LifeTime Gardens in the last minor round of the Metro League.<\/p>\n<p>With a number of key players absent from both teams it looked to be a close encounter between the rival clubs and the matches did not disappoint.<\/p>\n<p>Rubbers were tied after the doubles round, with both teams securing three wins each. Mark Pead and Des McLellan (Gardens) survived a fight back from DTC Sports pairing of Nicholas Munro and Matt Giess claiming victory 6-4 3-6 10-6. However, the DTC Sports pairings of Chris Wevill \/ Sam Giess and Tenille Waters \/ Stephanie Long both came back from a set down in their doubles to claim vital wins for DTC.<\/p>\n<p>The singles also had some close matches. Kane Nurton (DTC) displayed some great fighting spirit to comeback from a set down to defeated Darren Jakobson (Gardens) 4-6 6-2 10-5. Madeleine Murray (DTC) barely survived a fight back from David Bridges (Gardens) with a two point win in the match-tiebreak 6-3 5-7 10-8.<\/p>\n<p>LifeTime Gardens player, Des McLellan is back on top of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/nt\/tournaments\/metro-league\/player-of-the-year\"><em>Player of the Year<\/em> <\/a>leader board with only the Finals remaining this weekend. McLellan has an 8 game lead over Sam Giess (DTC) who is coming a close second. Ian Redmond (Gardens), Nicholas Munro (DTC) and Mark Pead (Gardens) round out the top five.
