{"id":2217,"date":"2011-05-16T17:45:48","date_gmt":"2011-05-16T08:15:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/nt\/?p=2217"},"modified":"2011-05-16T17:45:48","modified_gmt":"2011-05-16T08:15:48","slug":"metro-league-round-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/nt\/news\/2011\/05\/16\/metro-league-round-2","title":{"rendered":"Metro League &#8211; Round 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>DTC Sports secured there second consecutive win of the Metro League with a convincing 14 Rubbers to 4 win over LifeTime Gardens in Round 2 action.<\/p>\n<p>Gardens had its chances in the doubles with Daniel Parker and Damien Mamolo taking the first set against DTC Sports\u2019 Ryan Palfrey and Nicholas Munro 6-4. However it was Palfrey and Munro who took the next two sets in tiebreakers 7-6 7-6. Dave Bridges and Ian Redmond also came close for Gardens, but could not overcome Kacy Brennan and Hamish Martin who eventually won in a match tiebreak 5-7 6-4 6-7.<\/p>\n<p>Kaelan Bates (DTC) held off a late charge from Dave Bridges (Gardens) to win 6-1 6-2, while fellow NTIS athlete Ben Lye (DTC) clinched a close 6-4 6-4 win over Des McLellan (Gardens). Lye teamed with Madeleine Murray for a 6-4 6-0 win over Darren Jakobson and Lee Watkins in the doubles.<\/p>\n<p>Murray remains the only\u00a0unbeaten player\u00a0after two rounds when she defeated Jakobson in the singles 3-6 6-0 7-6(8); Murray now sits comfortably on top of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/nt\/tournaments\/metro-league\/player-of-the-year\">&#8216;<em>Player of the Year&#8217;<\/em><\/a>\u00a0leader board, with 4 Rubbers, 8 Sets and 57 Games above fellow DTC Sports compatriots Sam Giess 3 Rubbers, 7 Sets, 49 Games and Kacy Brennan 3 Rubbers, 6 Sets and 51 Games.<\/p>\n<p>After Round 2 DTC Sports remain on top of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/nt\/tournaments\/metro-league\">Premiership Table <\/a>with a\u00a032 point lead over LifeTime Gardens.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Round 3<\/strong><br \/>\n2.00pm Saturday 21 May 2011<br \/>\nGardens Tennis<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DTC Sports secured there second consecutive win of the Metro League with a convincing 14 Rubbers to 4 win over LifeTime Gardens in Round 2 action.
