Travel Grant

The Intra-Territory Travel Grant is intended to increase participation in Northern Territory Australian Ranking tournaments published on the Tennis NT Events Calendar.

DEFINITIONS

  • Applicant is defined as an Eligible Competitor or Coach who is registered with Tennis NT
  • Coach is defined as a Tennis Australia Coach Member who has been endorsed by a Tennis NT Affiliated Club or Centre to provide coaching services to Eligible Competitors during the tournament.
  • Eligible Competitor is defined as a senior or junior player who has entered at least two Australian Ranking points events in any one tournament.
  • Tournament is defined as one which is published on the Tennis NT Events Calendar and offers Australian Ranking points.


TRAVEL GRANT FUNDING

A Travel Grant will not be paid where a player is given a Tournament Code of Behaviour Infringement or a Coach is reported for breaking Tennis Australia Coach Members Code of Conduct.

If Eligible Coaches are travelling to more than one tournament, where additional travel for subsequent tournaments is not required, a second Travel Grant equating to 50% of the first will be applied (e.g. Alice Springs – Darwin = $500.00).

ATHLETE ELIGIBILITY

  1. Applicants must have registered with Tennis NT prior to 30 April in the year the tournament is scheduled, with the exception of previously unregistered Applicants who then must be registered prior to the published entry closing date of the tournament.
  2. Applicants must make written application on the form available below within one month of the Finals Day of the nominated tournament.
  3. The following restrictions apply to Eligible Competitors:
    • Metropolitan Region: Eligible Competitors registered in the Metropolitan Region may only apply for three subsidies with no more than two for travel into any other singles region;
    • Northern / Central / Southern Regions: Eligible Competitors registered in the Northern, Central and Southern region may only apply for four subsidies with no more than two for travel into any other single region.

 

COACH ELIGIBILITY

  1. Applicants must have registered with Tennis NT prior to 30 April in the year the tournament is scheduled, with the exception of previously unregistered Applicants who then must be registered prior to the published entry closing date of the tournament.
  2. Applicants must make written application on the form available below within one month of the Finals Day of the nominated tournament.
  3. A Coach must have a minimum of four Eligible Competitors from their regular training program at the Tournament. Where a Tennis NT Affiliate has ten or more Eligible Competitors at a Tournament a second Coach endorsed by the same Tennis NT Affiliate may apply.
  4. Athlete support throughout the tournament must be prioritised, including but not limited to conducting daily warm-ups, viewing and reviewing matches and providing logistical support at the tournament.
  5. The following restrictions apple to Tennis NT Affiliates:
    • Metropolitan Region: Eligible Coaches registered in the Metropolitan Region may only apply for three subsidies with no more than two for travel into any other single Region;
    • Northern / Central / Southern Regions: Eligible Coaches registered in the Northern, Central and Southern Regions may only apply for four subsidies with no more than three for travel into any other single Region.
