After 16 weeks of fun, learning, and connection, Tennis NSW is proud to celebrate the successful completion of a new introductory All Abilities Tennis Program at Northwest Tennis Academy in Tamworth.<\/p>\n
Delivered in partnership with the NSW Office of Sport and Northwest Tennis Academy Head Coach Jarrod Campbell, the program provided 16 weeks of free tennis coaching for people with a disability. The initiative created a welcoming and inclusive environment where participants could develop new skills, build confidence, stay active, and connect with others through sport.<\/p>\n
What began with just four participants in the opening week quickly grew into something truly special. By week four, attendance had surged to more than 30 participants, with an average of around 25 people attending each session throughout the program. The strong uptake highlighted the demand for inclusive and accessible sporting opportunities within the region. This success was supported by strong community partnerships, with Tamworth Regional Council and Wests Entertainment Group playing an important role in promoting the program and helping connect participants with the opportunity.<\/p>\n
Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, demonstrating the program’s impact on both physical activity and social connection. For many, it was their first experience playing tennis, reinforcing the importance of creating accessible entry points into sport.<\/p>\n
