{"id":27452,"date":"2025-10-21T10:22:12","date_gmt":"2025-10-20T23:22:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/nsw\/?p=27452"},"modified":"2025-10-21T11:31:51","modified_gmt":"2025-10-21T00:31:51","slug":"nsw-school-redeemer-baptist-school-wins-ash-barty-schools-challenge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/nsw\/news\/2025\/10\/21\/nsw-school-redeemer-baptist-school-wins-ash-barty-schools-challenge","title":{"rendered":"NSW School, Redeemer Baptist School wins Ash Barty Schools Challenge"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Redeemer Baptist School is set to welcome tennis legend Ash Barty in Term 4, after being crowned the inaugural Ash Barty Schools Challenge winners.<\/p>\n<p>The national initiative attracted entries from more than 100 primary schools across Australia, each eager to participate in the program created by three-time Grand Slam champion Ash Barty to inspire children to get active, have fun and develop a love for tennis.<\/p>\n<p>Schools were invited to submit photos or videos showcasing how students were embracing tennis through skill activities, team challenges and creative racquet games. Redeemer Baptist School impressed the judging panel with its energetic and engaging submission, featuring students from across the school taking part.<\/p>\n<p>As the winning school, Redeemer Baptist will receive a special visit from Ash Barty in Term 4, where students will have the opportunity to meet the former world No.1 and even rally with her on court. The school will also receive a collection of Little Ash books for classrooms and the school library.<\/p>\n<p>Ash said she was thrilled by the creativity and enthusiasm schools showed throughout the challenge.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis challenge was all about encouraging kids to be active and enjoy tennis in a fun way,\u201d said Ash Barty.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was incredible to see so many schools get involved and embrace the spirit of the program. Congratulations to Redeemer Baptist School \u2014 I\u2019m really looking forward to visiting and having a hit with the students!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Redeemer Baptist School Principal Jonathan Cannon said the program strongly aligned with the school\u2019s values around health, sport and community participation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were delighted to participate in the Ash Barty Schools Challenge. It brought our students together through sport, teamwork and healthy activity,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith 32% of our K\u20136 students already involved in after-school tennis coaching, the chance to welcome Ash \u2014 an Australian sporting icon and children\u2019s author \u2014 is truly inspiring.
