Day 5 of the NSW Open is complete.<\/p>\n

It was perfect conditions on Centre Court this morning, with Astra Sharma\u00a0<\/strong>(WA)\u00a0 producing spectacular tennis. Coming back from a set down, Sharma<\/strong> pushed through and defeated Lea Ma<\/strong> (USA) 7-6, 4-6, 3-6. Top seed, Thanasi Kokkinakis<\/strong> (SA), secured his spot in the quarterfinals after defeating Philip Sekulic<\/strong>\u00a0(QLD) 7-5, 7-5.<\/p>\n

Chak Lam Coleman Wong\u2019s<\/strong> dream of earning a second Challenger title in two weeks was ended by NSW Open poster boy, Rinky Hijikat<\/strong>a (NSW). After his 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 win, Hijikata<\/strong> has also secured a spot in the quarterfinals.<\/p>\n

Wildcard, Maya Joint<\/strong>\u00a0(AUS) has continued her strong form, winning convincingly against Yuki Naito <\/strong>(JPN) 6-4, 6-3.\u00a0 Joint<\/strong> will now play Jamie Fourlis<\/strong>\u00a0(QLD) who came back from being behind to beat Chihiro Muramatsu<\/strong> from Japan, \u00a02-6, 6-1, 6-4.<\/p>\n

The Aussies are dominating the ladies doubles, with 3 out of the 4 pairs in the semi-finals being from Australia.<\/p>\n

First up tomorrow on Centre Court, we have Rinky Hijikata<\/strong>\u00a0(NSW) against Korean, JiSung Nam.\u00a0<\/strong> Nam<\/strong> defeated Dane Sweeny<\/strong> to earn his place in the quarterfinals. Rio Noguchi<\/strong> will have to overcome the crowd and his opponent when he faces\u00a0Thanasi Kokkinakis (SA) <\/strong>in the second match\u00a0on Centre Court.<\/p>\n
