{"id":22299,"date":"2022-11-04T18:00:09","date_gmt":"2022-11-04T07:00:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/nsw\/?p=22299"},"modified":"2022-11-04T18:00:09","modified_gmt":"2022-11-04T07:00:09","slug":"day-6-nsw-open","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/nsw\/news\/2022\/11\/04\/day-6-nsw-open","title":{"rendered":"Day 6 &#8211; NSW Open"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Day 6 of the <strong>NSW Open<\/strong> is complete.<\/p>\n<p>With 2 days left of the NSW Open, today saw the Quarter finals played of the Men\u2019s and Women\u2019s Singles as well as the Semi Finals of the Men\u2019s and Women\u2019s Doubles. <strong>Max Purcell<\/strong> is the last remaining New South Welshman standing and flew the flag high for us today. In an amazing match <strong>Purcell<\/strong> came away with the win over <strong>Tristan Schoolkate<\/strong> 7-6 (4), 6-4. In the other Quarter Final played on court 2 Aussie <strong>Adam Walton<\/strong> went down to <strong>Marek Gengel<\/strong> (CZE) 6-2, 6-0. On court 4 in the quarter finals <strong>Marc Polmans<\/strong> (AUS) defeated <strong>Mark Whitehouse<\/strong> (GBR) 6-3, 6-1 while <strong>Yu Hsiou Hsu<\/strong> was too good for our other NSW hopeful <strong>James McCabe<\/strong> winning 6-4, 6-0.<\/p>\n<p>In the Men\u2019s Doubles Semi Finals, <strong>Blake Ellis<\/strong> and <strong>Tristan Schoolkate<\/strong> defeated number 4 seeds <strong>Matthew Romios<\/strong> and <strong>Jason Taylor<\/strong> 6-3, 7-6 (3) while in the other Semi <strong>Edward Winter<\/strong> (AUS) and his partner <strong>Mark Whitehouse<\/strong> (GBR were defeated by <strong>Ajeet Rai<\/strong> (NZL) and partner <strong>Yuta Shimizu<\/strong> 6-2, 6-4<\/p>\n<p>In the Women\u2019s Singles Quarter finals 3 out of the 4 matches were won by our Aussies. <strong>Petra Hule<\/strong> (AUS) defeated <strong>Talia Gibson (AUS)<\/strong> in another tight match 6-3, 6-4 while <strong>Kimberly Birrell (AUS)<\/strong> defeated <strong>Na-Lee Han (KOR)<\/strong> 6-4, 6-1 and number 4 seeds <strong>Oliva Gadecki (AUS)<\/strong> defeated <strong>Himeno Sakatsume (JPN)<\/strong> 6-2, 6-4. Unfortunately <strong>Kaylah Mcphee (AUS)<\/strong> lost to <strong>Mai Hontama (JPN)<\/strong> 6-1, 6-0 after wining her way through to the quarter finals from qualifying.<\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow will see <strong>Kimberly Birrell (AUS)<\/strong> take on <strong>Petra Hule (AUS)<\/strong> in an all Aussie Semi Final to be played at 11am on court 9. This match will then be followed by <strong>Olivia Gadecki<\/strong> <strong>(AUS)<\/strong> vs <strong>Mai Hontama (JPN)<\/strong>.
