Day 3 of the NSW Open<\/strong> has now been completed. Today saw\u00a027 matches played. This included first round matches in both the Men\u2019s and Women\u2019s Singles as well as the doubles.<\/p>\n

After his match being suspended last night due to rain, Aleksandar Vukic<\/strong> (NSW)<\/strong> returned today to finish off his match with a 7-6 (3), 6-2 win over Colin Sinclair (NMI). In blustery conditions, Sydney local, Rinky Hijikata (NSW) <\/strong>fought hard but unfortunately went down in 3 tough sets to Yuta Shimizu (JPN) <\/strong>6-3, 4-6, 7-5. Other Australians who had wins today Include Alex Bolt<\/strong>, Max Purcell<\/strong>, James McCabe<\/strong>, Marc Polmans<\/strong>, Luke Saville<\/strong> and Tristan<\/strong> Schoolkate<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In the Women\u2019s Singles today number 4 seed Olivia Gadecki (QLD) <\/strong>had a convincing win over Chihiro Maramatsu (JPN) 6-2, 6-0. There were also wins for fellow Auatralian\u2019s Sara Nayar<\/strong>, Alana Parnaby<\/strong> and Kayla McPhee<\/strong> in the Singles.<\/p>\n

In the Doubles Mark Whitehouse (GBR)\/Edward Winter (AUS)<\/strong> defeated Aaron Addison (AUS)\/Calum Puttergill (AUS)<\/strong> 4-6, 6-4, 10-3. In the battle of the Taylor brothers, younger brother Jason<\/strong> and partner Matthew Romios (AUS)<\/strong> came out as victors over Adam<\/strong> and his partner Jeremy Beale (AUS) <\/strong>7-6 (0), 4-6, 10-8 in a tough match that was interrupted by rain at 6-6 in the match tie break.<\/p>\n

In the Women\u2019s Doubles, it was an all Aussie sweep with wins to Destanee Aiava<\/strong> and Lisa Mays<\/strong>, Alexandra Bozovic<\/strong> and Talia Gibson<\/strong>, Kimberly Birrell<\/strong> and Maddison Inglis<\/strong> and Petra Hule<\/strong> and her partner Makenna Jones (USA).<\/strong><\/p>\n
