{"id":20818,"date":"2022-02-17T14:17:07","date_gmt":"2022-02-17T03:17:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/nsw\/?p=20818"},"modified":"2022-02-17T14:33:40","modified_gmt":"2022-02-17T03:33:40","slug":"nsw-atp-cup-tennis-legacy-fund-serves-up-opportunities-for-kendall-tennis-club","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/nsw\/news\/2022\/02\/17\/nsw-atp-cup-tennis-legacy-fund-serves-up-opportunities-for-kendall-tennis-club","title":{"rendered":"NSW ATP Cup Tennis Legacy Fund serves up opportunities for Kendall Tennis Club"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Tennis NSW<\/strong> and the <strong>NSW Government<\/strong> have provided more than $360,000 to grassroots tennis organisations through Round 2 of the <strong>NSW <\/strong><strong>ATP Cup Tennis Legacy Fund<\/strong> for projects that support facility upgrades and drive participation.<\/p>\n<p>The Fund will deliver more than $5 million in funding to tennis clubs, providers and venues as a result of Sydney hosting the ATP Cup and ATP Cup Finals. Funding for categories 2 and 3 is being delivered through a grant program over three years in 2020, 2021 and 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Kendall Tennis Club received $25k of funding in round 2 to contribute to a new court at the facility along with contributions from the Federal Government ($150k), Kendall Op Shop ($20k) and Kendall Tennis Club ($25k). Category 2 provides funding for facility developments and upgrades that increase participation in tennis. The completion of this project has ensured that Kendall Tennis Club are able to continue to grow their participation base, with one of the largest junior programs on the North Coast. 220<\/p>\n<p>Wendy Hudson, Kendall Tennis Club President said, \u201cThe funding from the NSW ATP Cup Tennis Legacy Fund has contributed to an amazing upgrade for our facility. Kendall tennis club is a hub for our local community, this upgrade will ensure we are able to provide more opportunities and greater access for local residents.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKendall Tennis Club would like to express it\u2019s thanks to the NSW Government and Tennis NSW for the contribution made through the ATP Cup Tennis Legacy Fund.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Member for Port Macquarie Lesley Williams said tennis has a proud history in the region with the grant ensuring the sport would continue to grow.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis project will benefit all levels of tennis, from girls and boys picking up a racquet for the first time to the region\u2019s elite players,\u201d Williams said.<\/p>\n<p>Minister for Sport Stuart Ayres said Kendall Tennis Club were among more than 30 NSW grassroots tennis organisations to receive a grant in Round 2 of the Fund.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe NSW ATP Cup Tennis Legacy Fund is a clean winner for grassroots tennis in NSW,\u201d Mr Ayres said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith the world\u2019s best players having returned to Sydney in 2022 for the ATP Cup, these projects will encourage girls and boys to pick up a racquet and emulate their heroes on Ken Rosewall Arena.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tennis NSW Chief Executive Officer, Darren Simpson said, \u201cWe are pleased to be able to leverage off the ATP Cup to provide more playing opportunities for more people across NSW.
