As well as recording a straight sets victory over compatriot Thelma (Coyne) Long, Collier also won the women\u2019s doubles title with Mary (Bevis) Hawton and the mixed doubles with Neale Fraser.<\/p>\n<p>Offshore, Collier won the German Championships and reached the French Open and Wimbledon quarterfinals in the same year. The results catapulted her to a career-high ranking of world No.5.<\/p>\n<p>In 2017, Collier\u2019s achievements in tennis were recognised with her induction into the Australian Tennis Hall of Fame.<\/p>\n<p>Her grandson, James Duckworth continues the family&#8217;s tennis tradition and is currently ranked world No.88.<\/p>\n<p>Tennis NSW sends its condolences to Beryl\u2019s family.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tennis NSW is saddened by the passing of former Australian international, Beryl (Penrose) Collier.
