Member for Kiama Gareth Ward MP has today presented $10,000 funding to Kiama Tennis Club under Round 1 of the ATP Cup Tennis Legacy Fund.<\/p>\n
Mr Ward said that Tennis NSW and the NSW Government launched the ATP Cup Tennis Legacy Fund providing more than $240,000 in funding through Round 1 of the program for projects that support facility upgrades and drive participation.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am extremely pleased that Kiama Tennis Club have received $10,000 funding in Round 1 to undergo a facility improvement project which will upgrade their courts with brand new LED lighting,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cTennis has a long and proud history in our region and this project will benefit all levels of tennis, from girls and boys picking up a racquet for the first time to our region\u2019s elite players,\u201d Mr Ward said.<\/p>\n
Club President, David Lehman said, \u201cThis funding will allow our Club to update the five remaining courts at KTC to state of the art LED lighting, a much needed upgrade for our facility and one that the local tennis community will benefit from for years to come.\u201d<\/p>\n
The NSW Minister for Sport Dr Geoff Lee MP said that Kiama Tennis Club were one of 19 grassroots tennis organisations across NSW to receive Round 1 funding.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe ATP Cup brought tennis\u2019s superstars to Sydney,\u201d Mr Lee said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Fund will see tennis flourish through projects which support facility upgrades and encourage participation across NSW,\u201d Minister Lee said.<\/p>\n
Tennis NSW CEO Lawrence Robertson said, \u201cWe are pleased to be able to leverage off the ATP Cup to provide more playing opportunities for more people across NSW. The Legacy Fund will provide vital support to our grassroots to strengthen our sport further,\u201d Mr Robertson said.<\/p>\n
